Rebecca ‘Becky” Tungate, 66

Mrs. Rebecca (Spradlin) “Becky” Tungate of Liberty passed from this life on Saturday, August 24, 2019 in Nashville at the Vanderbilt University Hospital. Born in Boaz, Alabama on January 4, 1953 to the late Edward and Mae (Black) Spradlin, she was 66 years, 7 months, and 20 days of age. Mrs. Tungate had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Elkhorn Baptist Church. She was the wife of Mr. Wayne Tungate, who survives, and an employee of the Campbellsville/Taylor County Chamber of Commerce. She loved her grandchildren dearly, and hand-made many an heirloom quilt for them.

Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her passing:

Three children: Rebekah Taylor, Mary Wise and husband Lucas, and Clifford Tungate, all of Campbellsville,

Four siblings: Gail Miller of Florida, Frances VanTassell of Texas, Beverly Easlic and husband Don of Alabama, and Joseph Spradlin and wife Elaine of Alabama,

Five grandchildren: Hailey, Madie, Gracie, Ellie, and Lilly,

Her mother-in-law: Audrey Burress of Campbellsville,

A special friend: Karen Carnes of Louisville,

And a host of other family and close friends.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Rebecca Tungate on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Elkhorn Baptist Church, 3145 Elkhorn Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Dr. Brian Rafferty will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Chapel Cemetery, Casey County.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Aug. 26, after 5:00 PM at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, and on Tuesday at the church after 9:00 AM.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Tungate, Lucas Wise, Clifford Tungate, Tim Schnedier, Sammy Cox, and Shawn Gebler.

Johnny Hunt, 58

Mr. Johnny Everett Hunt of Campbellsville was born on April 9, 1961 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Ezra Earl and Tressie Ellen (Graham) Hunt. He departed this life on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the Taylor Regional Hospital after an extended illness. He was 58 years, 4 months, and 15 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Mr. Hunt was an ASE certified mechanic but he preferred the freedom of the road. He was an over-the-road truck driver many years, retiring only when his health began to fail. His kind heart and giving spirit will be dearly missed.

Phillip Johnson of Louisville, son of the late Verlin Johnson and Aggie Bradley Johnson, was born May 7, 1943 in Floyd County, Kentucky. He died at 2:20 A.M., Saturday, August 24, 2019 in Louisville. Age: 76
Phillip worked in the railroad industry for many years as a welder, painter and general handyman.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting or anything having to do with the woods.
He united in marriage to Bonnie Wilcher May 16, 1964.
Besides his wife, Bonnie Wilcher Johnson of Louisville, he is survived by one son, Wayne Johnson of Louisville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Vernice Carnes, 84

Mrs. Vernice Fay (Mouser) Sprowles Carnes entered into rest on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at her home after an extended illness. Born on September 30, 1934 to the late James Alfred Mouser and Pearl (Kidd) Jenkins, she was 84 years, 10 months, and 23 days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of God’s Grace Church. She was a retired employee of the Fruit of the Loom plant in Campbellsville and was a homemaker. As a young lady, she married Mr. Ervin Sprowles. After his death, she married Mr. Clifford Carnes, who preceded her in death on January 27, 2016.

Mrs. Carnes faced life’s daily battles with a grace and dignity only God can provide. She loved Jesus and her church, and tried daily to be a servant to Christ. Her family was of utmost importance to her and she lived her life for them as an example of God’s mercy.

She leaves to cherish her memory:

She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Genia Sherrill; a son: Thomas Sprowles; four stepchildren: Jimmy Sprowles, Darlene Carnes, Gary Carnes, and Ronnie Carnes; and nine siblings: Vera Meadows, Lera Jeffrries, Lura Fancher, Lilian Bishop, Chelsey Mouser, Drusilla Blaydes, Carlos Mouser, Veatchel Mouser, and Odel Mouser.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Vernice Carnes on Monday, August 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM EST (10:00 AM CST) in the chapel of the L.R. Eli J. Mast, the son of the late John and Lydia Mast was born, November 15, 1944 in Dover, Delaware and departed this life on Monday, August 19, 2019 in Mannsville at his home. He was 74 years, 9 months and 4 days of age.
He was a woodworker.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Sadie E. (Yoder) Mast in 2015 and a sister: Ella (Mast) Troyer.
He is survived by seven siblings: Emma Mast of Campbellsville, Elizabeth Ann Troyer and husband Levi, Lydia Mast and husband Alvin, Rosie Swarey and husband David and Vernie Mast all of Michigan, John Henry Mast and wife Anna of Campbellsville and David Mast and wife Barbara of Tompkinsville.

Born on December 12, 1974 to Debbie (Hicks) Cox and the late Robbie Leo Sallee, Sr., he was 44 years, 8 months, and 7 days of age. Leo, as he preferred to be addressed, was a former employee of Waste Management and Tarter Gate Company. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed listening to music of all kinds and was a talented watch repairman.

Sarah Laverne Crawley, 86, of Campbellsville, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019, at Treyton Oak Towers in Louisville, Kentucky. Daughter of the late Robert Lewis Gupton and Sarah (Sally) Katherine Sanders Gupton, she was born February 18, 1933, in Taylor County, Kentucky. She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she taught Children’s Sunday School classes, Girls in Action, Acteens, and was an active member of the Women’s Missionary Union. She was retired from Fruit of the Loom and had worked at Victor’s and Bobbie Jean’s in Campbellsville, and as a bookkeeper for Superior Radio in in Lebanon, where her husband was co-owner. Sarah was united in marriage to Dennis Wilmore Crawley, Jr. on April 10, 1950. She was known for her sewing and creating many quilts and animals for family and friends. Sarah and her late husband, Dennis (Jr.), were known as loving, generous people who gave of their time and ministered to numerous people in their church and community. They gladly opened their home to many and were affectionately known as “Mom and Pop.”
Sarah is survived by two sons: Doug Crawley and wife, Debra, of Richmond Hill, Georgia, and Tim Crawley and wife, Joyce, of Prospect; one son-in-law, Terry Joe Stone and wife, Jeri, of Campbellsville; nine grandchildren: Kim Arnold and husband, Steve, of Campbellsville; Kelly Joe Stone and wife, Dr. Monica Stone, of Greensburg; Daniel Crawley and wife, Amanda, of Madisonville; Dyanna Jenkins and husband, Cody, of Charlotte, North Carolina; Danae Crawley of Charlotte, North Carolina; Brooke Cotton and husband, Chris, of Charlotte, NC; Austin Crawley and wife, Elena, of Louisville; Tyler Crawley and wife Kaitlyn, of Louisville; and Cody Crawley of Louisville; ten great-grandchildren: Chelsey Stone, Chandler Jenkins, Claire Jenkins, Carter Jenkins, Thomas Stone, Jake Stone, Lila Stone, Jillian Crawley, Jocelyn Crawley, and Joel Crawley; two brothers: George Gupton and wife, Carolyn, of Campbellsville; and Lawrence Gupton and wife, Audrey, of Greensburg; two sisters-in-law, Lena Mae Gupton, of Campbellsville; and Marie Gupton, of Campbellsville; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Michael Fenwick, 64

Mr. Michael Anthony Fenwick of Campbellsville passed away suddenly on Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Springview Hospital in Lebanon. Born in Jefferson County on July 30, 1955 to the late Charles and Mamie (Masterson) Fenwick, he was 64 years and 17 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Fenwick, or “Mikie”, as he was affectionately known, was the proud husband of nearly 40 years to Mrs. Judy (Noel) Fenwick, and the cherished daddy to two daughters. He enjoyed the simple things of life, and loved to laugh and crack jokes at every opportunity. Although accomplished in life, he remained humble and true to himself throughtout. He was a veteran and served his country honorably in the United States Army. He enjoyed tinkering on motorcycles and making historic furniture replicas, and had once coached his softball team to nationals. Outside of his family, his biggest passion was reenacting Civil War battles, where he played the role of General of the Army of Tennessee.

Shelia Mae (Buley) Milby, the daughter of the late David and Sylvia (DeSpain) Buley, was born Wednesday, August 28, 1946 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Friday, August 16, 2019 in Greensburg at the Green Hill Nursing Home. She was 72 years, 11 months and 20 days of age.

She was a homemaker and former apartment complex manager in Louisville and was of the Baptist Faith.

She is survived by her husband: Len Milby of Greensburg; two daughters: Lori Cox and husband Darrell of Summersville and Sylvia Buley of Greensburg; three brothers: Vernon “Duck” Bloyd and wife Louise and David Buley and wife Sue all of Mt. Sherman and Hugh Bloyd and wife Arlene of Louisville; six grandchildren: April Denk, Jessica Corner and husband Shawn, Danny Thompson and wife Brittany, Desteny Ray and husband Shorty, Jodi Buley and Jessica Denk: eighteen great-grandchildren, one expectant great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends survive.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Austin Bloyd and two grandchildren: Ryan Adam Denk and Jordan Lee Contrell.

The funeral service for Sheila Mae (Buley) Milby will be Monday, August 19, 2019 at 12 Noon EST in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Cox Family Cemetery in Summersville. Bro. James Walker will be officiating.

Mr. Loyd Wayne Bell of the Levelwoods community passed from this life on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at his home after a valiant fight with cancer. Born on April 19, 1948 to the late Creed and Myrtle (Warren) Bell, he was 71 years, 3 months, and 30 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Larue County. He was a former production worker at Kentucky Cooperage and a farmer. Mr. Bell was married to Mrs. Kimberly (Brown) Bell, who preceded him in death. He enjoyed keeping his yard tidy and neat and working on small engines, but his first love was his grandkids. He was especially proud of them and loved spending as much time as possible with them.

He leaves to mourn his passing:
