Sandy Davis, age 58

Sandra D. “Sandy” Burress Davis, 58 years, 5 months and 22 days of age, of Campbellsville, died Thursday at her home after an extended illness.

Sandy was born in Campbellsville on June 29, 1959 to Bobby and Dorothy Wethington Burress of Campbellsville who survive.  She was a member of Feathersburg Church of God and was known for her sweet selfless spirit, always worrying about others’ needs over herself.   In her spare you would find her enjoying scrapbooking and working puzzles.

Sandy married Gerald “Jerry” Davis on May 10, 1986 who survives.   Also surviving are 2 daughters, Jennifer Lynn Bell and her husband William Richard of Elkhorn, Jacqueline Nicole Davis, a step-son, Jeremy Daniel Davis, both of Campbellsville, as well as three grandchildren, Corey Blake Spurling, Nicholas Joseph Hall and Gabriella Rose Hall.    Two brothers survive, Rodney Burress and his wife Toni and Allen Burress and his wife Kecia, both of Elkhorn.

The Funeral Service for Sandra “Sandy” Davis will be Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Bro. Josh Wilson officiating.   Burial will follow in Callahan Cemetery with casket bearers being, Adam Burress, Matthew Burress, Dustan Burress, Austin Burress, Joseph Johnson and Robert Campbell.

The family request visitation from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Andy Jones, age 61 years, ten months and 24 days of Summersville, died there on Thursday, December 21, 2017.

He is survived by his brother, Freddy Jones of Jeffersonville, IN; sisters, Jeanne Morris, and her husband, Harold of Summersville, Anna Marie Miller and Mary Lee Elsner and her husband, Jim of Clarksville, IN, a sister-in-law, Sharon Stubbins and a special friend, Kim Hutcherson as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 23rd at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with cremation to follow.

The family requests visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 22nd at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy are requested to the Wilson Cemetery where he will later be buried.  Memorial contributions may be made at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Mary Margaret Tucker of Campbellsville, daughter of the late George W. Burress and Mary Rollins Burress, was born January 24, 1930, in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 3:15 P.M., Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in Campbellsville. Age: 87
She professed faith in Christ at an early age and attended Campbellsville Baptist Church and Saloma Baptist Church.
Mary Margaret united in marriage to Thomas T. Tucker December 18, 1961 and he preceded her in death April 9, 2004.
She is survived by two daughters: Alice Carroll and Connie Tucker of Campbellsville; three granddaughters: Tommie Lynn Howard, Cristi Carol Howard and significant other, Kevin Bradley and Mary Gabrielle Tucker of Campbellsville; three great-granddaughters: Ashlee Michelle Long, Jazmine Carroll Howard and Alyssa McKinley Curry of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters: John R. Burress, James Emmett Burress, Pauline McCubbin and Georgia Lee Pierce.

Sharon Warren Brown

Sharon Warren Brown died at her home in North Port, Florida on December 11, 2017 at the age of 72. She was born on November 17, 1945 in Campbellsville, Kentucky to the late J.D. Warren and Mayme Rodgers.
She made her profession of faith in Christ at an early age. She was the organist at Palestine Baptist Church in Campbellsville for several years. Later she became a member of Campbellsville Baptist and then South Biscayne in North Port. Sharon worked a long side her husband as owners and operators of Brown Construction, Inc.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Tommie Brown of North Port, Florida; a daughter, Mendy Brown Mills and husband David of Richmond, KY; a son Jamie Brown, of North Port, Florida; a brother, Marvin Warren of Tennessee and 6 grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held in Campbellsville at a later date. In lieu of flowers and in keeping with the spirit of the season the family would like to suggest making a donation to your local charity (food bank, Toys for Tots, Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, Gideon Bibles or any charity of your choice) in memory of Sharon.

Florence Curry of Campbellsville, daughter of the late William Nelson and Edna Stearman Nelson, was born September 2, 1918, in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 3:30 A.M., Thursday, December 14, 2017 in Campbellsville. Age: 99
She professed faith in Christ and was an active member of the Campbellsville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Florence united in marriage to Boyce F. Curry March 27, 1937 and he preceded her in death September 13, 2002.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Russell of Campbellsville; one granddaughter, Susan Phillips and husband, Kenny of Campbellsville; one great-grandaughter, Amber Nash and husband, Adam, Albuquerque, New Mexico;
two brothers and three sisters: David Nelson and wife, Ruby, Allen Ray Nelson, Betty Sharp, Thelma Barnes and husband, Kelsay “Bug” Barnes and Rachel Durham and husband, Howard of Campbellsville; a sister-in-law, Anna Lee Curry of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters: Buckner Nelson, Pearl Sullivan, Ruth Nelson and Gladys Milby and a son-in-law, Eugene Russell June 26, 2003.

Ruby H. Waters

Ruby H. Waters of Campbellsville, daughter of the late William Cobb and Cordie Acree Cobb, was born November 21, 1922, in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 9:15 P.M., Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in Greensburg. Age: 95
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Little Flock Baptist Church in Zoneton, Kentucky.
She was a retired employee of Sears, Roebuck & Company. After retirement, Ruby volunteered with the American Red Cross for twenty-five years, which she felt was her true calling. She never hesitated when she was called upon, even during the aftermath of the September 11th attacks and during the hurricanes in Florida. Ruby assisted many people who had been dislocated by these disasters by arranging for their shelter.
She united in marriage to Ernest L. Waters, Jr. November 7, 1947 and he preceded her in death December 7, 1983.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Pattie Waters of Campbellsville; four grandchildren: Chris Waters and wife, Crystal, Tonya Waters and Private Corey Waters and wife, Chelsea of Campbellsville and Amanda Cherry and husband, Brian of Nashville; four great-grandchildren: Aydan Waters, Atleigh Waters, Locklynn Waters and Knox Waters; two step-great-grandchildren: Brennan Potter and Masen Potter; one brother and one sister: Mary Nell White and husband, Daniel of Campbellsville and Shelly Cobb and wife, Maxine of Mt. Washington; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Corrine Williams.

Larry Yocum, 65

Mr. Larry Vonzell Yocum, Sr., of Lebanon, son of the late James William and Prudy Garnelle (Railey) Yocum, passed from this life on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at his home. Born on July 20, 1952, he was 65 years, 4 months, and 23 days of age. Mr. Yocum was a truck driver, and had served his country honorably in the United States Army. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Shelbyville.

He leaves to mourn his passing:

His wife: Martha J. (White) Yocum of Lebanon,

Two children: Larry Vonzell Yocum, Jr. and wife Angela M. of Taylorsville, and Charles White of Lebanon,

Six siblings: Thomas Yocum and wife Liz, Joseph Yocum and wife Jeanie, Robert Yocum and wife Katie, Sarah Overall and husband Ronnie, and Wanda Yocum, all of Shelbyville, and Martha Yocum of Louisville,

Nine grandchildren: Chrissy Rogers and husband Austin Bruner, Wesley Yocum, Stephon Yocum, Crystal Yocum, Larry Yocum, III, Destiny Marie Rogers, Tyler Chase Owens, Tiffany Reed, and Natalie Owens,

Three great-grandchildren: Mariana Aguayo, Carlos Aguayo, and Bailey Marie Yocum,

And a host of other family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a son, John Rogers.

Cremation rites were entrusted to the L.R. Petty Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Campbellsville. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Leon Robert Shelby, Jr., 93

Mr. Leon Robert Shelby, Jr, the son of the late Leon R. Shelby, Sr and Elizabeth Parker Shelby, was born April 5, 1924 in Owasso, Michigan, and departed this life on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in Campbellsville at his home. He was 93 years of age.
He was retired from the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. He was a Veteran, having served in the United States Army. He was an avid fisherman, loved to travel and photography.
He united in marriage to Dollie Jean Ellis who survives.
Besides his wife Dollie Jean (Ellis) Shelby of Campbellsville, he is survived by four children: Sharon Boyd and husband Michael, Steve Shelby and Julie Powell, all of Michigan and Roberta Oldfield of Richmond; his special friends: Raymond and Bunny Morris and Billy and Jean Wallace, all of Campbellsville.
9 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and his furry companion Buddy.

At the request of Mr. Shelby, cremation rites were honored by L.R. Petty Funeral Home in Campbellsville.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Michigan.

Kathryn “Katy” Kiger, 68

Mrs. Kathryn “Katy” Kiger of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Harold Foley and Mary Cathrine (Anderson) Watson, was born on September 6, 1949 in Pulaski County and departed this world on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at the Taylor Regional Hospital. She was 68 years, 3 months, and 4 days of age. She professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. With a natural love for people, both friends and strangers, she found success as the owner of the Lucky Vista Motel. Mrs. Kiger was also a talented seamstress, and made beautiful wedding and prom dresses and elaborate Halloween costumes. She was an avid reader and had a wide range of knowledge that was only surpassed by her love for her children and grandchildren, both natural and chosen.

She leaves to cherish her memory:

Five great-grandchildren: Kathryn Sincerity, Kierre Adream, Kimani Khyee, Kionte Joshua, and Penny Lane,

Special friends: Sandy Richardson, Carol Jean Long, Tina Hartman, Nina Wethington, Marcia Allen, Cindy Coker, and Rita Bob,

And a host of other family and close friends.

There will be a memorial service to honor the life of Mrs. Kiger on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Haywood Riner will be officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday after 1:00 PM until time for the service.

In honor of Mrs. Kiger’s giving heart, the MGK Fund has been established at the Taylor County Bank in Campbellsville. Glenn Mikel Hedgespeth of Campbellsville, son of the late Hardin Hedgespeth and Evelyn Pearl Underwood Hedgespeth, was born June 22, 1951, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 10:54 P.M., Sunday, December 10, 2017 in Louisville. Age: 66
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Zion Separate Baptist Church.
Glenn was a semi-truck driver for more than forty years and had always loved driving trucks. Other favorite past times of his were going to the stockyards, watching his granddaughter, Madison play golf. He also enjoyed horses and watching MaKenzie show horses.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Jaysen Taylor of Campbellsville; one granddaughter, Madison Kennedy Ferrie of Campbellsville; one step-granddaughter, MaKenzie Taylor of Elizabethtown; one sister, Janice Mann and husband, Ron of Campbellsville; one uncle, Odell Underwood of Hodgenville; one niece, Shelly Gribbins and husband, Michael and one nephew, Travis Sprowles and wife, Tera of Campbellsville; two great-nieces: Chloe Gribbins and Jada Pierce of Campbellsville and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Jo Hedgespeth August 4, 1971.
