Edward Lilburn Cox of Somerset, formerly of Campbellsville, departed this life to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on January 27, 2017, at Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Somerset, Kentucky. He was born on September 3, 1929 to Cora (Bowen) Cox and Rufus Cox in Taylor County, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 61 years, Sue (Williams) Cox, his sons, Greg Cox and his wife Sarah of Somerset, and Jeff Cox of Lexington, his grandsons, Caleb, Cullen, and Tristan Cox of Somerset, and his granddaughter Emily Gridley of Lexington. He is also survived by his nephews Ronald Lewis Cox of Columbia, and Jason Cox of Taylor County.
Edward graduated from Taylor County High School in 1947 and pursued his teaching degree at Campbellsville College and the University of Kentucky. His studies were interrupted by his induction into the US Army on April 28, 1953, for service in the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Alaska and assigned to the US Army’s 12th Tank Company, the Dirty Dozen, at Fort Richardson. Upon his discharge on April 27, 1955, he completed his education, earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree, followed by a Rank I Certification.
Edward married Sue (Williams) Cox, of Adair County, Kentucky, on April 14, 1956. He and Sue were Charter Members of Saint Andrew United Methodist Church, Campbellsville. Edward taught Sunday School there for nearly 50 years. From an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Edward dedicated 43 years to the education of the children of Taylor County. At age 19, he taught in the one room Merrimac School while attending college. He taught Sixth Grade at Taylor County Elementary, served as Assistant Principal at Taylor County High for one year, then spent nearly 25 years as Principal there. He retired in 1998 as an Instructional Supervisor. As Instructional Supervisor, he particularly enjoyed his time with the inherently lively and joyful Preschool Program.
Following Sue’s retirement from Campbellsville Schools in 1999, they began to travel extensively spending warm winters in Okeechobee, Florida. They loved traveling with family and were never too many weeks away from a trip to Gatlinburg or Branson. Edward often ventured off the beaten path when traveling, seeing new sights along the way. He seldom took the same route twice. When not traveling, he could be found tinkering in his shop or working in the yard.
Edward was preceded in death by his father, Rufus Cox, his mother, Cora (Bowen) Cox, his brothers Rodney and James D (Jay) Cox, and his nephew Doug Cox.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on Wednesday, February 1st, from 5 PM-8PM, at the Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville, KY. The celebration of his life will take place at Parrott and Ramsey at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 2nd, with his burial following at Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

 Stoy Warren of Greensburg, formerly of Campbellsville, son of the late Bee Warren and Gertie Nelson Warren, was born October 14, 1930, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 3:10 P.M., Friday, January 27, 2017 in Louisville.
Age: 86
He was of the Methodist faith and was a member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church.
Stoy was a retired employee of Kentucky Trailers in Louisville and was also a farmer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and horseback riding.
He united in marriage to Hazel Underwood November 30, 1963.
Besides his wife, Hazel Warren of Greensburg, he is survived by two sons and two daughters: Doug Warren of Campbellsville, Glenda Warren, and Margie Walker and husband, Troy of Greensburg and Eli Warren and companion Kristy Parsons of Buffalo; six grandchildren: Casey Milby and husband, Jonathan, Natasha Walker, Shauna Walker and Evan Walker of Greensburg, Brandi Bowen and husband, Andrew and Abigail Warren of Hodgenville; two great-granddaughters: Ariel Underwood of Hodgenville and Gertie Milby of Greensburg; one brother and two sisters: Gilbert Warren and wife, Agnes of Campbellsville, Agnes Gunter and husband, Rollin of Franklin, Indiana and Bernice Stillwell of Hodgenville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Stoy was also preceded in death by three brothers: Roy Warren, Wilburn Warren and Linzie Herman Warren.

 Mr. Scott Alan Alsager of Campbellsville died on January 27, 2017 at his home. Born on December 19, 1955 in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Kenneth H. and Marjorie J. (Booth) Alsager, he was 61 years, 1 month, and 8 days of age. He was a retired electronic engineer. On April 30, 1977, he married Diania R. Lee, who survives. Mr. Alsager professed faith in Christ and was of the Lutheran faith.
Besides his wife, Diania R. Alsager, he is also survived by a son, Nicholas Alsager and wife Renee of Campbellsville; a daughter, Melinda Young and husband Robbie of Magnolia; six grandchildren, Jaide, Chloe, Rhyder, Maggie, Rhylee, and Xavier.
Mr. Alsager requested cremation and will be inurned in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at a later date. There was no public visitation.

Brian Travis Giles, age 45, of Elk Horn died Friday, January 27, 2017 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville following an illness.
Brian was born April 16, 1971 in Edinburgh, Indiana to the late Travis and Mildred Seaborne Giles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Eric Edwards. He worked for several years at Fruit of the Loom and later at Hendrickson in Lebanon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming.
He is survived by his daughters, Sara Giles, Grace Giles and Emily Giles, all of Campbellsville; his fiancé, Leslie Morris and her daughters, Kailey and Karley Morris of Elk Horn and a sister, Valerie Gamboa and her husband, Al, of Lexington.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 30th at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Callahan Cemetery.
The family requests visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, January 29th at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

 Mr. Melvin Douglas “Doug” Martin of Campbellsville was born on February 1, 1930 in Taylor County to the late Cloyd and Amelia (Jones) Martin. He departed this life on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at the Grandview Nursing and Rehab Center, being 86 years, 11 months, and 25 days of age. Mr. Martin professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Green River Memorial Baptist Church. He was veteran of the Korean conflict and served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Mr. Martin was a distinguished farmer and conservationist and had received many local, state, and national commendations and awards for his dedication to agriculture and conservation education. He was a board member for the Taylor County Conservation District, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the American Legion, a member of Pitman Masonic Lodge No. 124 F. & A. M., and a charter member of the Taylor County Fair Board. He married Reba Allen on June 8, 1951, and they shared their lives until his passing.
He leaves to cherish his memory:

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Martin on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 2:00 PM EST in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Landon Hadley and Bro. Don Gowen will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3878 Greensburg Rd, Campbellsville, KY. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The board members and families of the Taylor County Conservation District are recognized as honorary pallbearers.
The family of Mr. Martin will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 28, from 5:00-8:00 PM EST. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7:00 PM Saturday evening, and everyone is encouraged to attend.

Wilma Lee Bryant, 78 of Campbellsville, died Saturday, January 21, 2017 in Campbellsville. A daughter of the late John Rogers and Sarah Ramsey Rogers, she was born March 8, 1938 in Campbellsville.
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Christian Church. Wilma enjoyed many years in the restaurant and catering business. Cooking was a true passion of hers. She often said, “When I get to heaven I hope they let me cook”. Wilma also established Magnolia Alley as a family business.
She united in marriage to Leonard W. Bryant in 1954. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters and one son, Kathy and Todd English, Tammy and Rick Gwynn and Winn Bryant; two granddaughters, Candace and David Thorsen and Amanda and Hector Gaspar and three great-grandchildren, Beckham Thorsen, Carter Richerson and Sofia Gaspar. Also surviving are two sisters, Fran and Marshall Fletcher, Pensacola, FL and Judy Keen of Scottsville; a special friend, Marcia Beard of Glasgow; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby Bryant, Buddy Bryant, Mrs. Willard (Helen) Bryant, Raymond and Faye Bryant and Janice Harmon and several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 24th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Patton officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.

She was a retired Heath and P.E. Teacher in the Taylor County School System.
She united in marriage to Fred L. Waddle March 24, 1956.
Besides her husband, Fred L. Waddle of Campbellsville, she is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Ann Logan and Bill Edwards of Campbellsville; one grandson, Logan Edwards of Elizabethtown; her beloved fur babies, Izzy and Heidi and many other relatives and friends.

 Edith Chloe Harris Mariz of Campbellsville, daughter of the late James Finley Ferguson and Grace Piper Ferguson, was born October 28, 1928, in Metcalfe County, Kentucky. She died at 11:45 P.M., Thursday, January 19, 2017 in Campbellsville. Age: 88
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Lowell Avenue Baptist Church.
Edith was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.
She was described as a very classy lady. This was probably due to her extensive collection of jewelry and ladies’ fashion hats. It was only natural that she was involved in the Red Hatters Club and Taylor Regional Hospital Auxillary. Her love of fashion was very evident in the way she cared for and coordinated her closet.
She united in marriage to Earl L. Mariz May 4, 1984 and he preceded her in death June 8, 2006.
She is survived by four daughters: Debbie Edwards and husband, Ricky and Tonya Young and husband, Tony of Campbellsville, Nelda Beard and husband, Russell of Knifley and Lisa Land and husband, Mitchell of Louisville; six grandchildren: Troy Young and wife, Erica, Tyler Young and wife, Jacquelyn, Delena Nolley and husband, Vince and Derek Edwards and wife, Nikki of Campbellsville, Bobbie Ford and husband, Doug of Knifley and Patrick Edwards and wife, Kayla of Louisville; five great-grandchildren: Aubrey Grace Young, Madalyn Nolley, Wyatt Nolley, Kynleigh Paige Young, and Harper Claire Young all of Campbellsville; one brother and one sister: Dalton Ferguson and Mary Ellen Jeffries of Savoyard, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

 Mr. Robert David Skaggs of Campbellsville was born on April 13, 1932 to the late Robert Earl and Mattie Frances (Matherly) Skaggs. He departed this life on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at his home, being 84 years, 9 months, and 4 days of age. Mr. Skaggs professed faith in Christ and was a member of Mt. Roberts Baptist Church. He was a carpenter and farmer, and found contentment living a simple and honest life. As a young man, he answered the call to duty and served his country honorably in the United States Army. His life of service to others would continue throughout his years, and in 1983, he was recognized and commissioned a Kentucky Colonel.
He leaves to cherish his memory:

Bro. Drew Underwood will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3878 Greensburg Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Full military honors will be conducted by the Adair County VFW Post 6097.

James “Bud” Benningfield of Elk Horn, son of the late Marvin Benningfield and Ethel Puryear Benningfield, was born February 14, 1931, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in Lebanon.
Age: 85
He served his country honorably in the United States Army.
James was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and was also a farmer. He loved tractors and even when he didn’t feel like doing anything else, he loved to play with his grandchildren.
He was of the Baptist faith and attended White’s Ridge General Baptist Church.
He united in marriage to Burnestine Cook December 17, 1960.
Besides his wife, Burnestine Benningfield of Elk Horn, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Karen Benningfield of Elk Horn; two grandchildren: Jeremy Mings and fiance’, Mandy Porter of Elk Horn and Danielle Farmer and husband, Chad of Campbellsville; two great-grandchildren: Addie Farmer and Will Farmer of Campbellsville; one brother, Sam Benningfield of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
James was also preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Benningfield July 20, 2015 and Willis Benningfield February 5, 2015 and two half-brothers: Victor Benningfield and Clarence Benningfield.
