Mason - PicMr. James Lawrence Mason, Sr. of Campbellsville, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the Taylor Regional Hospital after a sudden illness. He was 34 years of age. He was the son of Martha (Rakes) McFarland and the late James Ervin Mason, the husband to Mrs. Carrie (Garrett) Mason, and the loving dad and step-dad to 5 children. Mr. Mason worked on several local farms and was known for his strong work ethic. Camping and fishing with his family were a favorite pastime of his.

Two step-brothers: Jason Jeffries and Daniel Jones, both of Campbellsville,
One step-sister: Natasha Robertson of Campbellsville,
His step-mother: Marsha Rakes of Campbellsville,
His step-father: Jeffery McFarland of Liberty,
Special friends: Dr. Harold Wilkerson and Charles Tucker, both of Campbellsville, and Donnie Shuffett of Elkhorn,
And several other extended family and friends.

A funeral service for Mr. Mason will be conducted at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd., Campbellsville, KY 42718, on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Pres. Raymond Burguss will be officiating.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM until time for the service.
Burial will be in the Whited Cemetery in Casey County.

Frances Johnson 002Frances Cundiff Johnson of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Horace Cundiff and Victoria Hughes Cundiff, was born in Adair County, Kentucky July 22, 1924. She died Wednesday morning, October 8, 2014 in Elizabethtown.      Age:   90.

She was a lifelong Christ follower and a graduate of Centre College, class of 1946, with a Bachelor of Science Degree.

She married Doug Johnson, her childhood sweetheart, January 2, 1945. He preceded her in death June 28, 1989.

Her vocations and avocations included church and school librarian, church secretary, volunteer at The Daughter’s of American Revolution, cofounder of Dewure High School in Zinbabwe high school teachering, publisher at Central Africa Mission Evangelistic Literature Service and an avid supporter of Central African Mission with whom she spent 30 years in Zimbabwe.

She is survived by three sons: Dr. Mark Cundiff Johnson and wife, Marcia Snider Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, Lynn Hughes Johnson and wife, Dr. Sally Sperring of Ellettsville, Indiana and Peter Martin Johnson and wife, Karen Cole Johnson of Elizabethtown.

Seven grandchildren: Katharine Powell and husband, Andy of Cincinnati, Aaron Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, Elizabeth McConaghy and husband, Kyle of Los Angeles, Savannah Atlas and husband, Rees of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Sylva Johnson of Bloomington, Indiana, Andrew Johnson and wife, Emily of Elizabethtown and Anna Johnson of Elizabethtown.

Two great-grandchildren: Ben Powell and Jack Powell.

Two brothers-in-law: David Lewis Johnson and wife, Norma Jean and Norman Allen Johnson of Campbellsville

Nieces and nephews of Campbellsville, Frankfort, Seattle and Washington D.C. and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Walker of Columbia.

Johnson PIC Mrs. Lanora (Judd) Johnson was born in Green County, Kentucky on August 15, 1935 to the marriage of Flym Jackson and Mattie Pearl Judd. She passed from this life on Monday, October 6, 2014 in Campbellsville. She was the cherished wife of Richard “R.D.” Johnson, who survives. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Liberty Separate Church in Greensburg, and also attended the Campbellsville Baptist Church. She worked 25 years at the Fruit of the Loom plant in Campbellsville, but her passion was farming. When she wasn’t cooking or taking care of her home, she was often seen driving her tractor around the family farm.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Johnson is survived by:
One brother: Gene Judd and wife Sarah of Greensburg,
One sister: Laverne Brooks and husband Jerry of Munfordville,
Two nieces: Jerynita Tennyson and husband Gary, and Joyneta Wilkerson and husband Freddy Joe,
Special friends: Nadine Curry, Roger Lee Beams, Jimmy Bault, and Bobby Kirtley, all of Campbellsville,
And a host of other extended family and friends.

There will be a funeral service for Mrs. Lanora (Judd) Johnson conducted at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd., Campbellsville, KY 42718 on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 2:00 PM EST (1:00 PM CST). Bro. Freddie Thompson will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Brookside Cemetery in Campbellsville.

She was born April 1, 1943 to the late Jack and Reedie Barnett Hancock and was also preceded in death by her brothers, Jack “Punkin” Hancock and Robert Earl Hancock.

She attended the Campbellsville Crossroads Community Church.

Besides her husband, Bradley, Bettie is survived by her son, Wayne Dulworth of Columbia; her daughters, Shirley Moss and her husband Harrison, Lisa Tucker and her husband, Gary and Linda Tucker and her husband, Leslie, all of Columbia, four grandchildren, Matthew Moss and his wife, Tessa, Scott Tucker, Travis Tucker and Zaylan Tucker and a great-grandson, Matthew Moss.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. EDT, Monday, October 6th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home in Campbellsville with Bro, Gary Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery in Adair County. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Moss, Scott Tucker, Eric Todd Burton, Doyle Burton, Timmy Dulworth, Jeremey Hancock and Travis Tucker.’

He was 50 years, 3 months, and 18 days of age. He was the son of Lucy Helen (Shofner) Skaggs of Campbellsville and the late Ernest Skaggs, Jr.
Mr. Skaggs worked several years in the janitorial services industry. He professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith.

J.
