Raymond Lee Burress of Campbellsville, son of the late John Burress and Mary Hazle Burress was born in Green County, Kentucky, May 12, 1918. He died at 4:40 P.M., Saturday, September 15, 2012 in Campbellsville.     Age:    94

Raymond professed faith in Christ and was a member of a non-denominational church.

He retired as a partner in Supertone Studio after many years.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served his country honorably in the United States Army.

Raymond united in marriage to Exie Mae Bishop November 15, 1952.

Besides his wife, Exie Bishop Burress of Campbellsville, he is survived by two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Larry Bishop and wife, Brenda, of Versailles, J. R. Bishop and wife, Darlene, of Greensburg, and Inex Bishop Ennis of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Janet Bishop Diamond.

Joel Gabbert of Campbellsville, son of the late Willie Virgil Gabbert and Bessie Pearline Thomas Gabbert was born in Adair County, Kentucky, April 3, 1943. He died at 9:30 A.M., Saturday, September 15, 2012, in Greensburg.      Age:   69 He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville, a farmer, and an avid honey bee keeper. He united in marriage to Joseline Atwood December 7, 1963. Besides his wife, Joseline Gabbert, he is survived by two daughters: Barbara Sue Cox and financee, Kent Bland, Sandra Kaye Roby and spouse, Mike Elsworth; eight grandchildren: Tiffany Nicole Cox, Brandie Erin Cox, Keith Andrew Roby and wife, Sherri, Alexander Blake Roby and fiancee, Lucy Hardesty, Katelyn Ashley Roby, Brooklyn Amber Roby, Alicia Danielle Ellsworth, and Alexis Kaye Ellsworth; two great-grandchildren: Aubrianna Denise Roby and Elijah Barrett Adams; all of Campbellsville; four sisters and one brother: Jewell Watson, Lillie Buckman, and Dollie Cox of Campbellsville, Ethel Marie Raims of Hixson, Tennessee, and Paul David Gabbert and wife, Donna of Knifley; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Vaughan Sharp

Vaughan Sharp of Campbellsville, son of the late Ben V. Sharp and Sina Mae Black Sharp, was born in Washington, D.C., December 8, 1937.  He died at 5:00 A.M., Thursday, September 13, 2012, in Campbellsville.

Age: 74. He professed faith in Christ and was of the Methodist faith.

He was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and was an avid model airplane enthusiast.

He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and attained the rank of airman second class.

He united in marriage to Betsy Hopper on October 7th, 1960.

Besides his wife: Betsy Sharp of Campbellsville, he is also survived by one daughter: Carol Sue Foster of ElReno, Oklahoma; two granddaughters: Kelly Jo King of Columbia and Alexandria Foster of Russell Springs; three great-grandchildren; three sisters: Alice McKinney of Wingate, Indiana, Barbara Zimmerman and Sue Navarre of Jamestown; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Jessie Howard Whited, age 91, of South Bend Indiana, died Sunday, September 9, 2012, at Dekalb Health Facility in Auburn, Indiana.

Mr. Whited was the son of the late Ethel Vaughn and Roosevelt Whited, he was also preceded in death by his first wife Hazel Whited.

J. Howard’s greatest love, besides his family and friends was music and fishing; he was inspired by his mother’s talent and love for music.  He played in many bands and touched many life’s, throughout with his love of music.

He is survived by wife Ada Ruth Thompson Whited of Indiana, two sisters Betty Fick and Mary Grace Rowe both of Louisville, Step-daughters and son-in-law, Susie Davis and Dottie Ruby and husband Paul, five step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren, along with many other family and friends, and Paul and Dorothy caretakers.   

Funeral services were conducted at 2 PM Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Merrimac Cemetery.

Geneva Akin Moss of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Ellis Akin and Carrie Bale Akin, was born December 23, 1919, in Green County, Kentucky.  She died at 8:55 A.M., C.D.S.T. Monday, September 10, 2012 in Columbia.        Age:  92

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  

She was united in marriage to D. C. Moss on December 24, 1941.  He preceded her in death on December 2, 1983.  

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Dr. Roger Smith of Columbia; two grandchildren:  Leah Levi and husband, Gary of Campbellsville and David Smith of Louisville; three great-grandchildren:  Samantha Levi and Taylor Levi of Campbellsville and Daulton Smith of Louisville; one brother and one sister:  Russell Akin of Campbellsville and Virginia Caulk of Elizabethtown;

several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Wilma  Sluder, age 57 , of Campbellsville, died Saturday, September, 8, 2012 at her Residence in Taylor County.

Wilma was the daughter of the late Pernie Marie Lawson and Kermit E Cox, she was also preceded in death by one son Henry K Cox, one brother Edward Lewis and one sister Helida Mae Cox.

Ms. Sluder was a member of Jesus Name Church and a loved lady by many friends and family.

She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law Cecil Cox of Louisville, Timothy Sluder and wife Elizabeth of Campbellsville, one daughter and son-in-law Cary Jenkins and husband Mark of Memphis, four grandchildren and one great grandchild, three brothers MacArthur Cox, Doug Cox, Mike Cox all of Campbellsville, five sisters Patricia Ann Lee of Georgia, Linda Sanders and Kathy Jean Pelly of Campbellsville and Cassie Brady of Lebanon and Brenda Cox of Campbellsville, and a host of friends and family.

Phyllis Ann Coppage, age 62, of , Campbellsville, died Friday, September, 7, 2012 at the Taylor Regional Hospital in Taylor County.

Phyllis was the daughter of the late Dorothy Jean Morris and William H Wooley.  She was the wife of the late Wayne E. Coppage and was also preceded in death by one sister Nellie Perkins.

Mrs. Coppage was an employee of Campbellsville University for many years.  She was a loving mother and friend to many.

Flora Cox Jones of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Rev. Levi Cox and Mary Elizabeth Stephens Cox, was born March 26, 1924, in McCreary County, Kentucky.  She has gone to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 5:35 P.M. in Campbellsville.    Age:  88

Flora professed faith in Christ and was a member of Taylor Ridge Baptist Church.

She was a devoted mother and homemaker.

She united in marriage to Charlie Powell, who preceded her in death.  Then later married Nelson Jones, who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by six daughters:  Ruth Dotson and husband, Ken, Sr. and Penny Jones of Campbellsville, Freda Roberts and husband, Boyd and Sue Watson of McCreary County, Nancy Tharp and husband, Jonathan of Indiana and Lisa Osborne and husband, Mike of Elizabethtown; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three sisters:  Mary Worley and Evelyn Newton of Indiana and Rosa Waters of McCreary County;

several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Sonny Watson;  two grandsons:  Ken Dotson, Jr. August 20, 2011 and Michael Dotson in infancy and three brothers and four sisters:  Fred Cox, Elmer Cox, James Leslie Cox, Nora Perry, Dora Sumner, Lora Cox and Margaret Cox.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David and Karolyn Anderson of Harrodsburg; one granddaughter, Erika Danielle Anderson of Harrodsburg; one sister, Linda Owens and husband, Ron of Bradfordsville; two nieces and two nephews:  Laura Gaunt, Marti Barker, Jim Jordan and Ron Owens, II; four great-nieces and one great-nephew and many other friends.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Anderson February 19, 1992 and a sister, Margaret Jordan October 12, 1973.

He had professed faith in Christ and attended the Feathersburg Church of God.

He was employed as a semi-truck driver.

He served his country honorably in the United States Army.

He united in marriage to Jennifer Harris May 4, 1996.

Besides his wife, Jennifer Watson of Campbellsville, he is survived by

one son and two daughters:  Mickey Dewayne Watson and wife, Jessica, Heather Watson and Haley Watson of Campbellsville; three sisters:  Regina Parker and husband, Johnny of Elk Horn and Nina Cox and Kaye Watson of Campbellsville; three half-sisters:  Dorothy Callahan of Mannsville, Gerald Ann Brown of Campbellsville and Cozetta Campbell of Elk Horn; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and many friends.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters:  Johnny Watson, Troy “Buster” Watson, Archie Watson, Vernon Watson, Jewell Dean Watson, Willie Mings, Frances Stayton, Annis Miles, Magdalene Watson and Mary Wethington.
