Georgia Gupton Beard

Georgia Gupton Beard of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Ossian C. Gupton and Gertrude Gupton Tupman, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky,  March 15, 1930.  She died at 4:15 A.M., Thursday, September 29, 2011 in Campbellsville.    Age:  81

She professed faith in Christ and attended Asbury United Methodist Church.

She was a talented seamstress for over sixty years, having sewn for the Campbellsville community, Lincoln Jamboree, singers Brenda Lee and Eddie Miles and many others.  She also
made several wedding dresses and was voted the Taylor County Fourth of July “Best Seamstress of the Year”.  She had also been employed as a greeter at Wal Mart.

She was a member of the D.A.R, Taylor County Historical Society, an active genealogist, and co-author of “The Gupton Book”.

She united in marriage to Shelby Woodrum Beard November 9, 1946.  He preceded her in death December 4, 1988.

She is survived by five daughters and one son:  Carla Kendall, Wanda LeFande, Kelvin Beard and wife, Debbie, Margie Buckland and husband, Bill, Ruthetta Clark and husband, Ricky and Myra Gribbins and husband, Greg of Campbellsville; twenty grandchildren:  Shellie Kendall, James Kendall, III, Lee Kendall, Jeannie Clark, R. B. Herron, II, Ashley LeFande, Brittany Bright, Greg Beard, Anthony Beard, Michael Collings, Matthew Collings, Magel Collings, Mitch Collings, Julie Joseph, Neil Buckland, A. J. Clark, Travis Clark, Shelby Gribbins, Whitley Gribbins and Erica Gribbins; twenty-six great-grandchildren: Dalton Nunn, Jessica Nunn, Josh Kendall, Joe Kendall, Jonah Kendall, Hailey Kendall, Jesse Kendall, Valerie Michelle Pike, Leah Kendall, Gavin Kendall, Brooke Kendall, Christopher Clark, Samantha Clark, Sara Clark, Natalie Bright, Keely Bright, Bailee Beard, Landen Beard, Kyler Beard, Madison Beard, Shelby Beard, Elijah Collings, Joy Joseph, Grace Joseph, Aaron Clark and Lucas Gribbins; six great-great-grandchildren: Alexis Kendall, Chelsea Kendall, Noah Kendall, Isabella Kendall, Bentley Kendall and Noah Vail;
one brother and one sister:  Brenda Gupton Allen and husband, Ronnie and Bobby Ray Gupton of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sisters:  Arbell Hall and Lola Mae Gupton.

Clara Burress Pickett

Clara Burress Pickett, of Georgetown, formerly of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Fred Burdick and Clara Smith Burdick, was born in Mingo County, West Virginia, July 12, 1920.   She
died at 3:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 28, 2011 in Greensburg.  Age:  91

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Woodlawn Christian Church.

She was a retired secretary from Burkholder Insurance Company.

She united in marriage to William S. “Bill” Pickett August 19, 1959.   He preceded her in death June 19, 2009.

She is survived by thre nieces, Dr. Susan M. Burress and Wanda Lucas of Campbellsville and Marlene Blair of Paris, Kentucky and several other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister:  Ralph D. Burress, James Burress and Floy Burkholder.

Harry Skaggs

Harry Skaggs of Campbellsville, son of the late Lonnie Branston Skaggs and Hallie Beatrice Skaggs, was born in Larue County, Kentucky, October 16, 1935.  He died at 8:55 P.M., Monday, September 26, 2011 in Campbellsville.  Age:  75

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Levelwoods United Methodist Church.

He was the owner and operator of Sandy Y Service for twenty-five years and a farmer.

He united in marriage to Linda Thompson December 21, 1957.

Besides his wife, Linda Skaggs, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law:  Rayona and Bill Baker of Elizabethtown; one grandson, Marshall Baker of Elizabethtown; two brothers and two
sisters:  Randall Skaggs and special friend, Wanda Underwood of Campbellsville, Verner Skaggs and wife, Lillie of Shepherdsville, Jean Nelson of Buffalo and Lorene “Reenie” Davidson and
husband, Darrell of Plano, Texas; many nieces and nephews and several other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert Skaggs.

Gary Ramsey

Gary Ramsey of Campbellsville, son of the late Sam Ramsey and Lettie Williams Ramsey, was born in Hardin County, Kentucky, April 6, 1947. He died at 11:00 P.M., Saturday, September 24, 2011 in Campbellsville. Age: 64

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

He was a retired respiratory therapist for thirty-seven years and a minister for fifteen years. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

He united in marriage to Bambi Matthews April 5, 2000.

Besides his wife, Bambi Ramsey, he is survived by two sons and two daughters: Austin Ramsey of Campbellsville, Richard Ramsey and wife, Kim of Somerset, Christie McKinney and husband, Michael of Lawrenceburg and Renee Odum and husband, Dwayne of Norcross, Georgia; eleven grandchildren; four brothers and one sister: James Ramsey of Hodgenville, Jackie Ramsey, Randall Ramsey and Jerry Ramsey of Sonora and Madeline Grieb of Louisville; many nieces and nephews and several other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters: Russell Ramsey, Donald Ramsey, Chester Ramsey, Frances Ramsey, Martha Ireland, Betty Priddy and Rudell Klinglesmith.

James “Jimmy” Rose

James “Jimmy” Rose of Campbellsville, son of the late Lindsey Allen Rose and Hallie Chaney, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, June 26, 1935. He died at 9:35 A.M., Sunday, September 25, 2011 in Campbellsville. Age: 76

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the South Campbellsville Baptist Church where he was a former deacon.

He was the former owner and operator of Bear Safety for many years.

He was a member of the United States National Guard for six years.

Jimmy loved nature, being outdoors, fishing with his son and was a dedicated loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He united in marriage to Ruby Bryant December 27, 1959.

Besides his wife, Ruby Rose, he is survived by one son and two daughters: Jamie Rose and wife, Rhonda of Campbellsville, Tammy Green and husband, Bill of Vero Beach, Florida and Joyce Rose and partner, Sheila Kalas of Lexington; four grandchildren: Joshua Rose, Morgan Rose, Will Green and Madison Rose; one brother and one sister: Tom Rose and wife, Virginia and Marie Rose, all of Campbellsville; many nieces and nephews several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Lee Rose May 15, 2000.
