Rev. Dee Hamilton Wade of Louisville, Kentucky, son of the late Terry Edwin Wade and Evelyn Elizabeth Hamilton Wade, was born August 20, 1952, in Larue County, Kentucky. He died at 1:51 A.M., Thursday, February 8, 2024, after a lengthy illness, at his residence in Louisville with his wife Deborah by his side. Age: 71
Dee was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and Union Theological Seminary in New York City. He was ordained as a Presbyterian minister at Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church in Lexington where he served as pastor for 10 years. In 1991, Dee, Deborah, and their son Seth, moved to Anniston, Alabama where Dee served as the pastor of The Church of the Good Shepherd for 6 years before moving back to his beloved state of Kentucky. Dee was installed as pastor of the Anchorage Presbyterian Church in 1997. After serving Anchorage Presbyterian Church for 22 years, Dee retired from active ministry. Upon retirement, Dee was honored to receive the title of Pastor Emeritus of Anchorage Presbyterian Church. To say that Dee loved the members of the congregations he served is an understatement. The love and devotion he felt for his “flock” could never be doubted. Dee believed it an honor to serve as a minister, a holy obligation, one he never took for granted. He delighted in all aspects related to preaching the gospel, the good news. He poured himself into researching, writing, and delivering sermons to honor the grace of God, given to all people. He missed preaching every day of his retirement. When asked if he was enjoying retirement, he would respond that he was not- he wanted to preach just one more sermon.
Dee is survived by Deborah Newton Wade, his wife of 46 years, his son, Seth Hamilton Wade, and one sister, Florence Wade Tandy. Dee is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews as well as family members on both his and Deborah’s side of the family whom he adored.
