Mr. Jewell Leon Thompson, son of the late Fredrick Ruel “Freddy” and Dorline (Graham) Thompson, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at his home in Campbellsville. Born on December 26, 1953, he was 62 years, 11 months and 26 days of age. He professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Thompson was a truck driver until becoming disabled. He enjoyed watching old western movies, and could quote many of John Wayne’s lines.
He leaves to mourn his passing:
Two children: Justin Thompson and Amanda Kitterman, both of Elizabethtown,
Seven brothers and sisters: Mary Ann Gray and companion Ricky Brown of Campbellsville, Margaret Embry of Campbellsville, Nina Sanders and husband Darrell of Mammoth Cave, Barbara Allen of Campbellsville, Danny Thompson of Hodgenville, Josephine Martinez of Hodgenville, and Tammy Seals and husband Robert of Campbellsville,
Three grandchildren,
And a host of other family and friends.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Thompson on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM EST in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd., Campbellsville, KY 42718. Burial will follow in the Highview United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1599-1973 Highview Pike, Raywick, KY.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 26, from 5:00-8:00 PM EST.

 Mr. Richard “R.D.” Johnson of Taylor County, son of the late Thomas Hendricks and Edmonia Cessna (Purcell) Johnson, entered into rest on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the University of Louisville Hospital. Born on December 19, 1928, he was 88 years and 4 days of age at the time of his passing. Mr. Johnson lived a simple but honest life, and was an upstanding example to the community. He was the proud husband of Mrs. Lanora (Judd) Johnson, and they shared their lives until her passing in 2014. He was a successful farmer, and enjoyed raising a garden or simply sitting on his porch watching the traffic and sharing stories with friends and family.
He leaves to mourn his passing:
One sister: Stella Thomas Morrison of Campbellsville,
Generations of nieces and nephews, including: Teresa Kibodeaux, Gary Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Josh Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Ashton Johnson, and Christy Trevillian,
A cousin and close friend: Roger Lee Beams of Taylor County,
And a host of extended family and close friends.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Hiestand Johnson, and a nephew Wayne Johnson.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Johnson on Monday, December 26, 2016 at 1:00 PM EST in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd., Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Freddy Thompson will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Brookside Cemetery in Campbellsville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 26, after 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in the form of donations to Gideon Bibles or Brookside Cemetery. Those can be made in person at the funeral home.

William Toy “Tweetie” Powell, Jr. of Campbellsville, son of the late William Toy Powell, Sr. and Ida Betsy Stone Powell, was born January 3, 1933, in Union County, Kentucky. He died at 12:59 P.M., Thursday, December 22, 2016 in Campbellsville. Age: 83
He was of the Holiness faith and attended Jesus Name Church.
He served his country honorable in the United States Navy.
Tweetie was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and he and Betty spent many years as caretakers of Miller Park. He was also the owner of Powell’s Coating.
He united in marriage to Betty Yates September 2, 1969.
Besides his wife, Betty Powell of Campbellsville, he is survived by four sons and three daughters: William Toy “Butch” Powell, III and wife, Ashley of Greensburg, Danny Lee Powell and wife, Dorothy Jean and Kalah Brann and husband, Bruce of Henderson and LaRhonda Webb and husband, Danny Joe and Debbie Sharp of Campbellsville, Steve Sharp and wife, Tina of Henderson and Terry Sharp and wife, Edna of Lebanon; ten grandchildren: Shiann Powell and Cheryl Brockman of Campbellsville, Madelyn Powell, Addison Powell and Daniel Joseph Webb of Greensburg, Jason Brann, Phillip Brann, Sara Nordhoff and Christy Lyons of Henderson and Linda Totten of Roberts; four step-grandchildren: Jennifer Sharp of Henderson, Amanda Morris of Evansville, Indiana, Michael Lowery of Florence and Adam Pittman of Lebanon; sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters: Claudia Mortis and Betty Stone of Corydon; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Tweetie was also preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Brann and two brothers and two sisters: Marshall Powell, Reuben Powell, Jewell Roy and Florence Wilson.
