 Mr. Alvin Hancel Humphress, the son of the late John Alvin and Ruby Peterson Humphress, was born January 1, 1936 in Taylor County and departed this life on Saturday, June 13, 2015 in Campbellsville at his home. He was 79 years of age.
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Christian Church. He attended the Campbellsville High School. He was a Veteran, having served in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne. He was a past Master of the Elkhorn Masonic Lodge # 568 and was retired from Fruit of the Loom as operation manager of the distribution center.
He united in marriage on July 12, 1958, to Elizabeth Goff, the daughter of Holman and Rachel Tucker Goff of Greensburg.
Besides his wife Elizabeth Goff Humphress, he is survived by three brothers: Jolly and Katheryn Humphress, Donald and Charlotte Humphress and Johnny Humphress, all of Campbellsville; a sister: Kathleen and Paul Campos of California, and a step-sister: Delores Underwood of Campbellsville and a host of other relatives and friends. Also brothers-in-law: Thomas “Red” and Juanita Goff and Henry L. Goff both of Campbellsville; sisters-in-law: Beverly & Mark Ponder of Yosemite and Berna Jean Goff of Greensburg, two former sisters-in-law: Patricia Humphress of Campbellsville and Linda Garcia Humphress of San Antonio, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother: Guy Humphress, his step-mother: Virginia Humphress, a step-brother: Bobby Shaw and a brother-in-law: Jessie Goff.
Memorial Service for Mr. Alvin Hancel Humphress, will be conducted Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Harden Cemetery in Taylor County.

THERE WILL BE NO VISITATION.
IN CASE OF RAIN OR BAD WEATHER, SERVICE WILL BE HELD IN THE CHAPEL OF THE L.R. PETTY FUNERAL HOME. .

Betty Compton of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Robby “Rube” Mikel and Catherine Bryant Mikel, was born October 9, 1936 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 12:34 A.M., Friday, June 12, 2015 in Campbellsville.
Age: 78
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church.
She was former Co-owner of Compton-Smith Battery Company with her husband, Norwood.
She united in marriage to Norwood Compton May 22, 1952. He preceded her in death March 12, 2006.
She is survived by two daughters: Janet Mills and husband, Steve and Darlene Burris and husband, Phillip of Campbellsville; two grandchildren: Stephanie Johnson and husband, Dr. Paul Johnson and Stuart Mills and special friend, Andrea Keltner Rosales of Campbellsville, two step-grandchildren: Anthony Burris of Campbellsville and Shannon Burris of Missouri; five great-grandchildren: Brittany McMahan and husband, Bobby, Shawn Mills, Hayes Johnson, Harper Johnson and Hadley Johnson of Campbellsville; one great-great-grandson, Keegan McMahan; two brothers and one sister: Wayne Mikel and Kenneth Mikel of Campbellsville and Dora Mikel of Columbia; special caregiver, Teresa Turner of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by one brother and five sisters: Guy Douglas Mikel, Shirley Wise, Annette Smothers, Rena Murphy, Barbara Jean Mikel, Mary Frances Mikel.

Kenneth Lee Gwinn of Campbellsville, son of the late James Garnett Gwinn and Ruth Smith Gwinn was born October 5, 1943 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 8:00 A.M., Thursday, June 11, 2015 in Campbellsville.
He professed faith in Christ and was of the Pentecostal Faith.
He was a mechanic at Fruit of The Loom for some thirty-seven and one half years, a farmer, a construction worker and delivered newspapers for the Courier Journal for twenty years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, stock car racing, gardening and UK Basketball.
He united in marriage to Judy England January 11, 1964. Besides his wife, Judy Gwinn, he is survived by one son and one daughter: Allan Gwinn and wife Carol and Donna Agee and husband, Tommy of Campbellsville; three grandchildren: Scott Gwinn, T.J. Agee and wife, Pam, and Nick Agee of Campbellsville; three great-grandchildren: Jason, Destiny and Cody Agee; one brother, Lewis Gwinn and wife, Leta of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters: James Hollis Gwinn, Carolyn Read and Mary Margaret Shaw.
