David Vernon “Doc” Hughes, 56

Mr. David Vernon “Doc” Hughes of Campbellsville was born in Taylor County on March 11, 1958 and departed this life on February 28, 2015 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was 56 years, 11 months, and 17 days of age. Mr. Hughes – or Doc, as he was better known – was a well-respected mechanic, and would often diagnose engine complications by ear before anyone else would even notice a problem. Although a man of few words, he made it obvious he loved his family, and was extremely proud of the lives they led. He professed faith in Christ, and was a member of the Cane Valley Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory:
One son: David Ray Hughes and wife Shannon of Campbellsville,
One daughter: Patricia Ann Boyd and husband Shane of Hustonville,
Four grandchildren: Chance Hovious, David Allen Hughes, Triston Boyd, and Allison Elizabeth Boyd,
Six siblings: Billy Price and wife Diane of Campbellsville, Evelyn Dile and husband Kenny of Greensburg, Shirley Perkins of Campbellsville, Linda Rooker of Campbellsville, Kathy Hughes of Indiana, Travis Hughes of Campbellsville, and several Burchett step-siblings,
And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Ray Hughes and Elizabeth May Price Hughes Burchett, and two brothers, Colman Price and Marvin Price.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of David Vernon “Doc” Hughes on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd., Campbellsville, KY 42718. Bro. Mike Woodrum will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3878 Greensburg Rd., Campbellsville, KY 42718
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 3, from 5:00-8:00 PM.

Dennis Goodman 001Dennis Goodman of Campbellsville, son of the late Lonnie Dennis Goodman and Violet Deeming Goodman was born January 21, 1937 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. He died at 3:30 P.M., Saturday, February 28, 2015 in Campbellsville.
Age: 78
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army.
He was a retired employee of Brown –Williamson Tobacco Company.
He united in marriage to Grace Colvin March 18, 1983.
Besides his wife, Grace Goodman of Campbellsville, he is survived by one daughter and one son: Janet Lee Thompson and husband Mark of Louisville and Michael Dennis Goodman and special friend, Debbie McCary of West Plains, Missouri; one granddaughter, Samantha Hawkins; one great-grandson, Dereck Hawkins; two sisters and four brothers: Pauline Goodman, Etta Rae Goodman, Lonnie Goodman, Butch Goodman, Gary Goodman, and Glen Goodman all of Louisville.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters: Evelyn, Dorothy and Corrine.

Marie Richerson Shawen of Campbellsville, daughter of the late James Raley Richerson and Lillian Deener Richerson was born February 19, 1933 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 1:18 A.M., Saturday, February 28, 2015 in Louisville. Age: 82
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
She was a former employee of Fruit of The Loom and was an Avon Representative.
Uniting in marriage to James Shawen March 2, 1957, she became an army wife and was therefore able to travel and see the world .
Besides her husband, James Shawen of Campbellsville, she is survived by one daughter and two sons: Darla Shawen Callahan and Greg Shawen of Campbellsville and Gary Shawen and wife Kimberly of Somerset; three grandchildren: Brad Callahan and wife, Renee, Hannah Shawen and Alexander Shawen; three great-grandchildren: Shelby Callahan, Sydney Callahan and Sadie Callahan; one brother, Robert Earl Richerson and wife Nancy of Louisville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by one brother and threeM sisters: William Richerson, Gladys Richerson O’Banion, Alice Richerson and Deronda Richerson.
