House Fire Kills Five Sends Two to Hospital

(Edmonton, KY) – On this date at approximately 0220 hours Kentucky State Police Post 15 – Columbia received a call from Edmonton Dispatch in reference to a house fire at 3120 Sulphur Well Knob Lick Road, Edmonton, KY.  Upon units arriving to the scene, the residence was still too hot to make entry.  Several fire departments responded to the scene to control the fire.

Kentucky State Police Post 15 Activity Report for March

(Columbia, KY) – During the month of March, 2010, there were 23 traffic accidents investigated by the State Police working in the Post 15 area in the 11 counties of Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington.

There were four fatalities during the month of March:

VEACH, JAMES E.; Age 80, of Fountain Run, Ky, was killed in Monroe Co. on 3/01/2010.

AMBURGEY, MACK; Age 41, of Edmonton, Ky was killed in Metcalfe Co. on 3/14/2010.

HAYES, DAVID L.; Age 62, of Liberty, Kentucky, was killed in Casey Co. on 3/27/10.

SHEAR, ETHAN; Age 24, of Russell Springs, Kentucky, was killed in Russell Co. on 3/30/10.

This brings our yearly fatality count to 7 compared with 12 through this same period in 2009.

State wide fatality count stands at 153 compared with 175 through this same period in 2009.

During the month of March, 2010, there were 1597 citations written, 386 courtesy notices written, 1856 vehicles inspected, 803 complaints answered, 70 motorists assisted, 81 criminal cases opened and 266 criminal arrests made.

Governor Beshear Encourages Entrepreneurship, Small Business Growth with Expansion of Kentucky Micro Enterprise Loan Program

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear and Cabinet for Economic Development officials today announced the expansion of the Kentucky Micro Enterprise Loan Program, ensuring entrepreneurs in all 120 Kentucky counties will have access to a microloan program.
