Charles W. Melton of Campbellsville, son of the late W. D. “Bill” Melton and Hattie Colvin Melton, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, October 31, 1933. He died at 7:05 A.M., Monday, January 31, 2011 in Campbellsville. Age: 77
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church.
He was a retired cutting room employee with Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.
He united in marriage to Hazel Lois Clark June 14, 1952.
Besides his wife, Hazel Lois Melton, he is survived by two sons and one daughter: Chuck Melton and wife, Sharon and Maria Pike and husband, Mark of Campbellsville and Mike Melton and wife, Catherine of Lexington; five grandchildren: SPC 5 Ronald Melton of Iraq, Steven Melton and Andrew Pike of Campbellsville, Sarah Rexroat and Jacob Melton of Lexington; three great-grandchildren: Kyla Melton, Koben Melton and Danielle Morris; two sisters: Gladys Colvin and Mary Aileen Colvin of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Rafferty Carroll.

On Saturday, January 29, 2011 at approximately 7:00 a.m. the Campbellsville Police Department received a complaint at 14 Greenbriar Drive Apt. F1. While officers were on the scene they discovered a step one Meth Lab. Detectives with the Kentucky State Police Drug Task Force were notified to secure and contain the lab.
Marsha Gail Curry age 32 and Amanda J. Beard age 31 both of Campbellsville were arrested and charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine. They were both lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center.
Agencies Involved: Campbellsville Police Department and the Kentucky State Police Drug Task Force.

Ricky H Humphress, 48
Richard H. Humphress, 48 was arrested yesterday at 4:00pm for attempted murder after Sheriffs Department received a complaint of a shooting in the Elkhorn Community. After arriving at the scene deputies learned that 52 year old, Tony Vaughn of Campbellsville had been shot in the back by Humphress. Vaughn advised that he was riding in a wagon being pulled by his mules when Humphress drove up behind him, got out of his truck and shot him in the back with a shotgun. Humphress was located at a residence on Eastridge Cemetery Road where he was arrested. Humphress was lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center. Vaughn was treated for his injuries at Taylor Regional Hospital. Adair County Sheriff’s Dept and the Kentucky State Police also assisted.
