Betty Powell

Betty Powell, daughter of the late Clarence Yates and Pearline Craddock Yates, was born on December 1, 1939 in Union County, Kentucky.  She died at 10:45 A.M., Sunday, June 23, 2024, in Campbellsville.   Age:  84

She was of the Holiness faith and attended Jesus Name Church.

Betty was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom after twenty years of service.

She united in marriage to William Toy “Tweetie” Powell, Jr. September 2, 1969 and he preceded her in death December 22, 2016.

She is survived by three sons and three daughters:  Terry Sharp and wife, Edna of Calvary, Debbie Sharp of Campbellsville, Butch Powell and wife, Ashley of Greensburg, LaRhonda Webb and husband, Danny Joe of Campbellsville, Kalah Brann of Henderson and Danny Lee Powell and wife, Dorothy Jean of Henderson; thirteen grandchildren:  Adam Pittman of Lebanon, Cheryl Brockman, Daniel Webb and Shiann Whitlock of Campbellsville, Jason Brann, Christie Wilkerson, Linda Totten, Sara Nordhoff, Jennifer Sharp and Phillip Brann of Henderson, Michael Lowery of Ohio, Addison Powell and Hope Powell of Greensburg; twenty-one great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Betty was also preceded in death by a son, Steve Sharp; a grandson, Joshua Brann and a son-in-law, Bruce Brann and three brothers and one sister:  L. M. Yates, Bobby Yates, James Yates and Lucille Mathis.

Bernie Mings

Bernie Mings, 84, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, son of the late Arlin T. Mings and Lola Belle Shirley was born November 15th, 1939, in Campbellsville, Kentucky, and departed this life on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024 at Taylor Regional Hospital.

Bernie professed faith in Christ and attended Feathersburg First Church of God. He was a member of the Green County Skydiving Club in Bardstown. He would parachute to kick off 4th July parade in Campbellsville and skydived as Santa for the Christmas parade.

In 1990 he established Creative Video in Campbellsville. He continued to serve families by taking pictures and videos up to his passing. He had a creative eye for camera angles and the hobby became a business that recorded once in a lifetime memories.

 

Bernie is survived by:

Six daughters and one son: Darlene Prather and her husband, James, of Elizabethtown; Doug Mings and his wife, Vicki, of Elizabethtown; Shelly Perkins of Campbellsville; Kathy Jaglowicz and her husband, Mike, of Lebanon; Christy Sluder and her husband, Chad, of Mt. Juliet, TN; Dana Hill and her husband, Billy, of Elizabethtown; and Myra Mings and her significant other, Mike Robertson, of Liberty

His special Friend, Veva Geralds of Campbellsville

19 grandchildren;

Several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren

One brother and two sisters: Ralph Mings and his wife, Georgie, of Elk Horn; Linda Leigh of Elk Horn; and Brenda Bright of Elk Horn

A host of other relatives and friends

 

Bernie was preceded in death by:

Two sons: Frankie Mings in 1961 and Mike Mings in 2019

Two brothers: Sid Mings and Randall Mings

 

VISITATION: Sunday, June 23rd, 2024 from 4:00 pm- 7:00 pm at Auberry Funeral Home in downtown Campbellsville.

 

FUNERAL: Monday, June 24th, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Auberry Funeral Home in downtown Campbellsville. Bro. Alex Cox and Bro. Danny Morris will be officiating with burial to follow in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Dennis Bays

Dennis Bays, son of the late Marshall Grant Bays and Margaret Herron Bays, was born on January 12, 1955 in Taylor County, Kentucky.  He died at 11:39 P.M., Thursday, June 20, 2024, in Campbellsville.   Age:  69

He professed faith in Christ and was of the Methodist faith.

Dennis was a retired employee of Taylor County RECC.

He was a loving father to his children and enjoyed being involved in their sports. He would work hard to keep the Trace Creek fields looking their best, enjoyed coaching the softball “Dream Team”, all while never missing any of his children’s games.

He is survived by one son and two daughters:  Grant Bays and wife, Abbie and Megan Bell and husband, Clay of Campbellsville and Amanda Ellington and husband, Johnnie of Berea; seven grandchildren: Payton Reynolds, Wesley Reynolds, Kyler Wilson, Izzy Anderson, Ri Anderson, Johnny Ellington, and Christopher Ellington; several nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Dennis was also preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Dale.

The family would also like to give a special thanks to Shirley Phillips and Hosparus of Green River for their exceptional care of Dennis, and also a special thanks to his nurse, Christy.
