Doris Gabehart Trautman of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Ewing Gabehart and Myrtie Chisholm Gabehart was born May 29, 1928 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 6:20 A.M., Tuesday, March 15, 2022 in Campbellsville after an accidental fall. Age: 93
She retired from Fruit of the Loom after some 47 years of service.
Doris was a feisty and very independent woman.
She united in marriage to her long time companion, Edmond Trautman December 9, 2009. He preceded her in death July 11, 2018.
She is survived by three nephews and two nieces: Kevin Gabehart and wife, Lisa of Campbellsville, Robby Gabehart and wife, Mildred of Pippa Passes, Tony Gabehart and wife, Cindy, Janet Bradley and husband, Mark and Terri Gabehart of Campbellsville, several great and great-great nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister: Carl Lewis Gabehart, James Edmond Gabehart and Ailene Gabehart and one niece, Karen Prince.

Melissa Gilbert, 44

Ms. Melissa Dawn Gilbert of Bradfordsville passed away at her home on Sunday, March 13, 2022 after a years-long battle with several health issues. Born on August 14, 1977 to James Robert and the late Ruth Ann (Maze) Gilbert, she was 44 years of age. She had earned an associate’s degree in business administration from Prestonsburg College, and was a medical coder by trade. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Christian faith.

She leaves to mourn her passing:

Her father: James Robert and Betty Gilbert of Bradfordsville,

Four siblings: Cynthia Thomas of Lebanon, James Michael Gilbert, and David Shawn Gilbert and wife Tammy, all of Bradfordsville, and Laura Savannah Gilbert of Louisville,

Her beloved chihuahua: Tori,

And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Russell Gilbert.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life Ms. Gilbert on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Evan Tedder will officiate. Interment will follow in the Elkhorn Cemetery, Elk Horn Loop Rd, Elk Horn, KY.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, Mar. 16, after 11:00 AM until time for the service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in the form of donations to the funeral expenses. Those can be made in person at the funeral home.

Lean meats and poultry

Add leftover cooked chicken, turkey, lamb, or beef in salads, wraps, or sandwiches for a simple homemade meal. Try our turkey and veggie stuffed pita  recipe as a starting point and use any cooked meat for the filling.

You can also try:

  • slicing beef strips to make fajitas
  • mixing in shredded chicken to a soup
  • adding turkey to a stir-fry, chili, or casserole

Fish and shellfish

Leftover cooked fish and shellfish, such as white fish, shrimp, or salmon, create delicious meals. Try:

  • serving in tacos with a lettuce slaw
  • adding to a cold salad or in wraps
  • making salmon sandwiches on whole grain bread. Try out ozempic weight loss.

Whole grain foods

Whole grain foods come in many forms. This can be single whole grains, such as oats, quinoa, and brown rice or foods made with whole grains or whole wheat such as pasta and breads. You can transform them into new recipes, by:

  • adding whole grain pasta to a soup
  • using leftover rice to make a Mujadarrah (lentils, onions, rice)
  • serving reheated brown rice, quinoa, or wild rice as a side dish
  • using whole grain macaroni to make a homemade macaroni and cheese

Phyliss Black

Phyllis Ann Black, 77, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, daughter of the late Chester Atwood and Retha Sweeden Atwood, was born August 1st, 1944, in Casey County, Kentucky, and departed this life Monday, March 14th, 2022, at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, Kentucky.

She professed her faith in Christ and was a member at Campbellsville Baptist Temple. Phyllis worked as a preschool teacher at Highview Baptist in Louisville, service desk manager at K-Mart, she also worked at Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville. Phyllis was a loving mother, wife, daughter, and grandmother. She also liked to cook and especially loved taking care of her grandchildren the most. She loved all her family and friends dearly.

Phyllis united in marriage to Jerry Black on September 18th, 1965, who survives.

Phyllis is also survived by:

One son: Brian Black and his wife, Marsha, of Campbellsville.

Three grandchildren: Chris Black, and his wife, Sarah, of Campbellsville; Grace Black, of Campbellsville; Shawn Black, and Joel Nault, of Louisville.

Two great-grandchildren: Karson Black, and Kylie Black, of Campbellsville.

Two sisters: Ruby Cox and her husband, Mac, of Elkhorn; Hazel Sroczynski and her husband, Tom, of Liberty.

Two brothers: Don Atwood and his wife, Brenda, of Casey County and Shearl Atwood of Casey County.

Special Niece: Donna Carman, of Casey County.

Along with several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by:

Three brothers: Earl Atwood, H. Dee Atwood, and Marvin Atwood.

Two sisters: Dorothy Allen, and Helen Allen.

VISITATION: Wednesday, March 16th, 2022, from 5pm-8pm EST at Auberry Funeral Home in downtown Campbellsville.

FUNERAL: Thursday, March 17th, 2022, at 1pm EST at Auberry Funeral Home in downtown Campbellsville.

Bro. Jase Divens and Bro. Tim Anderson will be officiating the service.

Burial to follow at Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for expressions of sympathy be taken in the form of donations toward Gideon Bibles and can be made at the funeral home.
