Douglas Edward ‘Doug” Cox, 65

Douglas Edward “Doug” Cox, the son of Dollie Jean (Gabbert) Cox and the late Kermit Cox, was born April 4, 1956 in Taylor County, KY and departed this life on Sunday, March 13, 2022 in Campbellsville at his home. He was 65 years of age,

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the Campbellsville Separate Baptist Church.

Before becoming disabled, he was an employee of former Crabtree’s Firestone in Campbellsville.

Doug, which he was known mostly as enjoyed gardening, canning and spending time with his grandkids and family.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by three half-sisters: Patricia Lee, Linda Nunn and Wilma Sluder.

Survivors include his mother: Dollie Jean Cox of Campbellsville; a son and a daughter: Justin Edward Cox of Columbia and Rachael Mae Spurling of Mannsville.

Also a brother: Carl Michael Cox of Campbellsville; a sister: Kathy Jean Pelly and husband Terry of Knifley; a half-sister: Cassie Brady of Lebanon; two grandchildren: Emily Grace and Bonnie Sue Spurling and a host of nieces, nephews including Ethan Pelly and Amanda Celis and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Douglas Edward “Doug” Cox will be Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Bro. Troy Grider and Bro. Matthew Lawhorn will be officiating.

Visitation on Tuesday after 10:00 A.M.

Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association or The American Diabetes Association, both can be made at the funeral home.

Landon Newton of Campbellsville, son of David Alan Newton and Angie Brewer Newton, was born July 5, 1992 in Hardin County, Kentucky. He died at 10:00A.M., Thursday, March 10, 2022 in Campbellsville. Age: 29
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Three Trees Church.
Landon was an employee of Lee’s Famous Recipe.
He was a kind-hearted, smart, talented man who enjoyed golfing, playing the guitar, and video games. He dearly loved his family and liked spending time with them.
Landon was compassionate toward the homeless and would give the shirt off his back to help others.
He is survived by the love of his life, Kelsey Feltner and was so looking forward to their marriage; his parents David Alan and Angie Newton; one sister, Sarah Hayes and husband, Drew, and was known as Uncle Lan to his two nieces: Anniston and Emerson Hayes all of Campbellsville; several aunts, uncles and cousins and many other relatives and friends.

Lorene Whitley of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Charlie Callahan and Lottie Herron Callahan, was born February 24, 1931 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 11:03 P.M., Wednesday, March 9, 2022 in Campbellsville. Age: 91
She professed faith in Christ and was of the Methodist faith.
Lorene was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville after forty-four years of service.
She united in marriage to Joseph “Joe” Whitley June 14, 1950 and he preceded her in death October 30, 1988.
She loved her children and family. She also enjoyed her flowers, watching game shows and listening to George Jones.
Lorene is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Kathy Whitley of Campbellsville; four grandchildren: Brad Akridge and wife, Regina and Derrick Whitley and wife, Felicia of Campbellsville, Lisa Blandford and husband, Tommy of Lebanon and Andrea Wood and husband, Mark of Russellville; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Odel Callahan and wife, Charlotte of Campbellsville and Rudolf Callahan of Louisville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marla Gale Gilbert September 6, 2021; a son-in-law, Mel Gilbert January 25, 2018 and a brother, Tom Callahan.
