Helen G. Shofner, 95

Mrs. Helen G. Shofner of Campbellsville was born on January 6, 1925  to the late Edwin and Susie (Caulk) Griffin. She departed this life on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at her home, being 95 years, 9 months, and 11 days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended Robinson Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Shofner was a retired employee of the Taylor County School District, having worked in as a cook in the Taylor County Middle School over 30 years. On February 9, 1945, she united in marriage with James Lee “Jay” Shofner. They would remain a devoted couple until his death on October 26, 1992.
   Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter: Judy Carolyn Hunt; an infant grandson: Gary Wayne York; and a great-grandchild: Riley.
   She leaves to cherish her memory:
   A sister: Frances Benningfield of Campbellsville,
   Three grandchildren: Jeremy Read and companion Jami Jones, Jacklyn York, and Chryslee York, all of Campbellsville,
   Four great-grandchildren: Haleigh Madison, Kirsten, Kash, and Emma,
   A niece: Nola Gaddis and husband Richie of Campbellsville,
   And a host of other family and friends.
   There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Shofner on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. John Hall will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
   The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 21, after 9:30 AM until time for the service.

Mary Louise Young, 92

Mrs. Mary Louise Young of Campbellsville passed peacefully from this life on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 11:55 PM at the Campbellsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Daughter of the late Hugh and Nora (Bottoms) Lanham, she was born in Marion County on May 14, 1928. Mrs. Young was 92 years, 5 months, and 5 days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a faithful member of Beech Grove Baptist Church in Springfield. She was a devoted woman, both to her family and her God, and had taught the Praying Hands Sunday School Class over 50 years. Mrs. Young was a homemaker and the beloved wife of Mr. Dalton Young, who preceded her in death in 2011.
   Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by two sons: James B. “Jimmy” Young, and William “Billy” Young; and eight siblings: Stanley Lanham, Beatrice Tate, Garnett Lanham, Bobby Lanham, Paul Lanham, Gene Lanham, Daisy Berry, and Everett Lanham.
   She leaves to carry her legacy:
   A son: Danny Young and wife Vickie of Campbellsville,
   Six grandchildren that she loved and cherished: Candace Young (with whom she shared a special bond), Karri An Drury, Billy Joe Young, Justin Young, J.B. Young, and Clint Young,
   Two siblings: Harold Lanham and wife Marlene of Harrodsburg, and Carol Gordon and husband Sidney of Gravel Switch,
   Seven great-grandchildren,
   Four great-great grandchildren,
   And a host of other family and friends.
   There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Young on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Beech Grove Baptist Church, Perryville Rd, Springfield, KY. Bro. Bobby Estes will be officiating. Mrs. Young will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville immediately following the service.
   The family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 22, at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM, and at the Beech Grove Baptist Church after 1:00 PM until time for the service.

Armani Jo Coombs, 41 Days

Miss Armani Jo Coombs, daughter of Phillip Coombs and Tiffany Jo Strom, was born on September 8, 2020 and passed from this life on October 18, 2020, being 41 days of age. Though her earthly time was short, she won many hearts and felt the love and joy she brought to her family.
Besides her parents, she is also survived by:
   Six siblings: Kane M. Palmerton, Alexis J. Palmerton, Rhyanna J. Rucker, Jaylan Coombs, Aria Coombs, and Zoriah Coombs,
   Her grandparents: John Brady and fiancé Mary Eaton of Campbellsville, Carla Brady of Campbellsville, Gerald Strom of Sellersburg, Indiana, David and Kelly Coombs of Chicago, Illinois, and Phillip and Sherry Burrgess of Campbellsville.
   There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Miss Armani on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 6:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Freddy Thompson will be officiating.
   Cremation will be accorded her after the service.
   In order to slow the spread of COVID-19, the funeral home staff will join with the family in requiring each attendee to wear a face covering and keep a safe social distance.
