Dorothy Kate Smith, 88

Mrs. Dorothy Kate Smith of Campbellsville left this world for her eternal home on Saturday, May 26, 2018. Born July 4, 1929 to the late Rufus Ernest and Sallie Flora (Groves) Johnson, she was 88 years, 10 months, and 22 days of age. Mrs. Smith was a retired employee of the Fruit of the Loom plant, having served there 29+ years. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the New Life Church of God.

She leaves to mourn her passing:

Her daughter: Sarah Hunter and husband Wilbur of Campbellsville,

Two siblings: Annie Richardson of Louisville, and Charles Johnson of Campbellsville,

Four grandchildren: Deronte Smith, Yuvonda Payne, Marshauna Smith, and Jalandra Penick,

Four great-grandchildren: Lamar Payne, Andre Payne, Caleb Payne, and Madison Smith,

And a host of other family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vester Smith; a daughter, Flora Ernestine “Tina” Smith; and nine siblings, Sue Ella Flowers, George Johnson, Luther Johnson, Willie Johnson, James Johnson, Lawrence Johnson, Robert Johnson, Lonie Johnson, and Leroy Johnson.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Smith on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church, 704 E Broadway, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. James Clayton will be presiding over the service with Bishop William Paul Hardin delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery, Hwy 70, Campbellsville, KY.

The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday, June 3, from 5:00-8:00 PM.

Susan Wethington, age 67

Susan Marie Wethington, 67 years, 6 months, 13 days of age, died Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Louisville.

Susan was Born on November 16, 1950 in Barberton Ohio the daughter of the late Jose’ Torrez and Mary Flaker.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by four sisters-in-law, Martha Greer, Pat Propes, Francis Cox and Mary Clements, and four brothers-in-law, Charles Wethington, Gordon Wethington, James Wethington and Jerry Wethington.

She was married to William Devello “Dean” Wethington, and she worked in the restaurant business.  She enjoyed music, soap operas and westerns, and she also liked to travel.  She was of the Baptist faith.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, James Allen Fox and Jeffrey Lynn Wethington, both of Campbellsville. Also surviving are two brothers, Joseph Torrez of Akron, OH and Ricky Torrez of Canton, OH, two Sisters, Stephanie Arndt and Husband Jeffrey of Lancaster OH, and Maria Potts and Husband John of Akron, OH. Also surviving is one grandchild, James Dean Fox, three brothers-in-law, Tom Wethington and wife Nina and Michael Wethington all of Campbellsville, and Joe Wethington of Liberty, two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Tungate of Campbellsville and Betty Stewart of Harlan County.

The funeral service for Susan Marie Wethington will be held on Friday, June 1st at 11:00 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with burial will follow in the St. Bernard Church Cemetery.

The family request visitation on Thursday evening, May 31, 2018 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Johnny “Wheelman” Wheeler

Johnny “Wheelman” Wheeler of Campbellsville, son of Maryvene Walls Wheeler and the late Junior Wheeler, was born July 16, 1963, in Marion County, Kentucky. He died at 12:08 A.M., Tuesday, May 29, 2018 in Campbellsville. Age: 54
Johnny was a believer in Christ. He was an employee of Wholesale Hardwood Interiors for over twenty years. Johnny, better known as “The Wheelman”, had a successful career in the dirt track racing circuit and was instrumental in helping others get into the sport of go cart racing. He was very thankful for all the support he received from his fans during his racing career. Outside of racing, his greatest joy was spending time with family and grandchildren.
He united in marriage to Jammie Cox July 22, 2005.
Besides his wife, Jammie Wheeler of Campbellsville, he is survived by one daughter and one son: Amber Vaughn and husband, Brad of Campbellsville and Johnathan Michael Wheeler and wife, Katie of Greenville, South Carolina; two step-children: Ashley Hoosier and John Bradley Hoosier of Campbellsville; four grandchildren: Hunter Vaughn and Reace Vaughn of Campbellsville and Izabella Wheeler and Blayden Wheeler of Greenville, South Carolina; his mother, Maryvene Wheeler of Sonora; one brother and one sister: Larry Wheeler and Frankie Cox and husband, Roger of Campbellsville; special friends: Lewis Brady and wife, Phyllis of Summersville, Kelly Wheeler and wife, Dolly, George McDonald and Robbie Wilson and wife, Shannon of Campbellsville and the Petty Family. several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Lynn Wheeler December 18, 1991.
