Leon Johnson, Age 67

Leon Johnson, 67 years, 3 months, and 10 days of age, of Campbellsville, passed away at his residence on March 18, 2018.

Leon was born in Taylor County, on December 8, 1950, the son of the late George Theodore and Captola Caldwell Johnson.    Also preceding him in death are his brothers, Harold Johnson, Paul Johnson, George Henry Johnson and Oliver Johnson as well as two step sisters, Teresa Mitchell and Deborah Barnett.

He had worked at Community Trust Bank and was a member of Fannie Chapel CME Church.

He is survived by five brothers and two sisters, Bobby and Fannie Johnson, Ernest and Letha Johnson, Marshall Johnson and Lonnie Johnson all of Campbellsville, Jerry Johnson of Somerset, Martha Drye of Indianapolis and Beatrice Johnson of Campbellsville. He is also survived by his step-mother, Mary Johnson of Campbellsville, three step-brothers, Jerry Coulter of Shelbyville, Gary Coulter of Campbellsville, James Clayton of Elizabethtown and three step-sisters, Joyce Barnett, Sandy Atkinson and Mary Clayton all of Campbellsville, and several nieces and nephews.

The family chose direct burial.

Memorial services for Leon Johnson will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 23, 2018, at the Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

The family request visitation after 9:00 A.M. Friday, March 23, 2018, at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Charles W. Spurling of Campbellsville, son of the late William Gobel Spurling and Mary Tarter Spurling, was born August 24, 1925, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 7:30 A.M., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his home. Age: 92
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Spurlington United Methodist Church.
Charles was a farmer and also worked in a machine shop for many years.
He united in marriage to Lucille Minor January 23, 1949 and she preceded him in death January 8, 1991. He then united in marriage to Helen Hardesty Wise July 6, 1992 and she preceded him in death December 23, 1999,
He later united in marriage to Carolyn Thompson, December 20, 2002.
Besides his wife, Carolyn Thompson Spurling, he is survived by two sons and one daughter: Randall Spurling and wife, Marsha of Campbellsville, Don Spurling and Judy Garland of Miamisburg ,Ohio, step-children: Wanda Sapp and husband, Manuel, Carolyn Forbis and husband, Mike, and Annette Givens and husband, Rod of Campbellsville, Deborah Miller and husband, Damon of Lexington, Jan Wilcoxson and husband, Tommy, Donald Clark and wife, Paula and Dale Clark of Louisville; four grandchildren: Shawna Spurling, Christopher Garland, Joey Garland and Robin Garland of Campbellsville; several great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother: Mattie Jean Smothers, Margaret Chappell, and Edwin Spurling of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Elaine Spurling, three brothers and one sister: Harold Spurling, Jimmie Spurling, W.M. Gobel Spurling Jr., Hazel Sullivan and two sisters in infancy: Geneva Maye Spurling and Opal Maxine Spurling.

Maggie Juanita Calhoun of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Otha Dewey Hughes and Eliza Stanton Hughes, was born June 30, 1948 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 1:29 A.M., Saturday, March 17, 2018 in Campbellsville. Age: 69
Juanita professed faith in Christ and was of the Church of God faith. In her past time she loved playing cards and bingo and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter and two sons: Becky Warren of Campbellsville, Jimmy Calhoun and wife, Deronda of Elkhorn and Marty Calhoun and wife, Kelley of Magnolia;
six grandchildren: James Calhoun, Maggie Calhoun and fiancé, Ryan Bailey, Jacob Warren, Katelyn Calhoun and fiancé, Steven Hammond, Cody Calhoun and Cheyenne Warren; three great-grandchildren: Lexie DeSpain, Kyler Calhoun and Tucker Calhoun; one sister, Faye Stants of Campbellsville; one brother, Alfred Hughes and wife, Opal of Franklin, Indiana; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by eight brothers and five sisters: Ray Hughes, John Hughes, Bill Hughes, Jimmy Mike Hughes, J.B. Hughes, Delbert Lee Hughes, Rufus “Bootie” Hughes, Moore “Dugan” Hughes, Sue Harris, Zelma Mae Gardner, Mary Lesley, Lillie Hughes and Sylvia Hughes.
