Vernon Dale Bennett of Columbia, the son of the late Morris Vernon and Evelyn (Tabor) Bennett, was born April 15, 1953 in Adair County, KY and departed this life on Friday, March 15, 2019 in Columbia at his home. He was 65 years of age.
He was of the Baptist Faith, a former auto detailer, a carpenter and mechanic and was a musician for a local country/rock band known at the Sterlings.
Survivors include two sons: Bobby Bennett of Columbia and Juston Bennett of Russell Springs; three grandchildren: Nathan and Delaney Bennett and Minley Bennett; a special friend: Anita Napier of Columbia.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: David Gale Bennett.
At the request of Dale, cremation rites were honored by L.R. Petty Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Campbellsville.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Tom H. Smith of Campbellsville, son of the late Tom Parker Smith and Eva Farris Smith, was born August 27, 1938 in Hart County, Kentucky. He died at 3:47 P.M., Wednesday, March 13, 2019 in Louisville at the age of 80.
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Tom graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture and worked as a milk inspector, a district executive with the Boy Scouts of America, an EMT with the Taylor County Rescue Squad, a Teacher’s Aid in the Taylor County School System and a contractor/electrician. He was a Ham Radio Operator and member of the Central Kentucky Amateur Radio Club, call sign WD4DIH.
He united in marriage to Earldeen “Deen” Atwood June 20, 1960 and she preceded him in death on October 8, 2018.
He is survived by two daughters: Tommi Hamilton and husband, Bob of Montgomery, Texas and Terri Gabriel and husband, T. J. of Gainesville, Georgia; five grandchildren: Derek Hamilton of Austin, Texas, Dagny Hamilton of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Davis Gabriel, Elliot Gabriel and Hayes Gabriel of Gainesville, Georgia and many other relatives and friends.

Mr. John Dennie Murphy of Campbellsville, son of the late Charlie W. Murphy and Daisy Hoosier Wright, passed from this life on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at his home. Born on November 21, 1955, he was 63 years, 3 months, and 21 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of White’s Ridge Baptist Church. Mr. Murphy, or Dennie, as he was commonly known, was a former logger and security guard for Parker-Kalon, and managed the BP Station on Highway 70 many years. He was a helpful, kind, and caring person, and always kept a meticulously groomed yard and a spotless truck. He loved his Jesus, and rarely missed an opportunity to insert God’s plan of salvation into any conversation.
He leaves to cherish his memory:
His wife: Shelia (Bird) Murphy of Campbellsville,
One stepson: Jeremy Settles and wife Jessica of Campbellsville,
Two grandchildren: Lexi Chesser of Springfield, and Brandon Colvin and wife Lauren of Louisville,
Six siblings: Eddie Murphy of Campbellsville, Mary Cox of Calvary, Jimmy Ward and wife Sandy of Alabama, Barbara Abell of Lebanon, Carolyn Lee and husband Larry of Calvary, and Geraldine McCarty of Calvary,
A close brother-in-law: Roger Coulter of Campbellsville,
And a host of nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Murphy on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Entombment will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, Greensburg Rd, Campbellsville.
Bro. Dickie Rogers will be officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, Mar. 15, from 5:00-8:00 PM.
