Mary Jean Smith of Peewee Valley, formerly of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Ruel H. “Buck” DeSpain and Anna Skaggs DeSpain, was born September 22, 1927 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 8:35 P.M., Sunday, February 4, 2018 in PeeWee Valley. Age: 90
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Mary was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville after thirty-eight years of service.
She is survived by one son and two daughters: David R. Smith of Campbellsville, Patricia Jones and Fran Smith Feldkamp and husband, Gary of Louisville; four grandchildren: Connie Alrodan and husband, Hamoud and Debbie White of Glasgow, Lori Morel of Byrdstown, Tennessee and Olivia Feldkamp of Denver, Colorado; ten great-grandchildren: Brittany Hagan Phillips, Heather Hagan, Shay Alrodan, Sara Alrodan, Allie Alrodan, Jenna Alrodan and Rodan Alrodan of Glasgow, Blake Morel, Keller Morel and Hunter Morel of Byrdstown, Tennessee; one great-granddaughter, Skye Milby and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Lynn Smith and a son-in-law, Larry Jones.

Nona Faye “Ms. Pompano” Beard, 77 years, 1 month and 21 days of age of Campbellsville, died Monday evening, February 5, 2018 at Grandview Nursing and Rehab Center after an extended illness.
Faye was born in Taylor County on December 15, 1940, the daughter of the late Aaron Alfred and Virgie Mae Able Cox. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Morris “Pompano” Beard, as well as their son, Anthony Dee Beard, two infant siblings, Billy Ray Cox and Lois Cox, 4 brothers, Leslie B. Cox, John Henry Cox, Donald Lee Cox and Samuel Lee Cox and sister Ora Mae Druien.
Faye left a wonderful legacy for her family, being such a godly example as a wonderful Christian wife and mother and enjoyed every moment of raising her children. After retirement she was found busy at her husband’s side operating Pompano’s Bait Shop at Campbellsville City Lake for 23 years. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Point Pleasant Lighthouse Baptist Church and often attended Campbellsville Baptist Temple with her late husband.
Surviving are two sons, Aaron Dale Beard and wife Lorraine of Wadsworth, Ohio, Shawn David Beard of Campbellsville and a daughter, Tanya Algee and husband Joseph of Geneva, Florida as well as 4 grandchildren, Tashina Zavardino and husband Adam of Orlando, Florida, Crystal Lynn Wells and husband Charlie of Tallmadge, Ohio, Nathaniel Morris Algee of Geneva, Florida, Jared Beard of Rittman, Ohio, 2 Step grandchildren, Michelle Algee-Hoffman and husband Rodney, Nicki Algee and partner, Kim as well as 2 great grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Margaret Cox and Helen McVay and husband John, of Campbellsville, two brothers, Jerry Nelson Cox and wife Rose of Elk Horn and George Cox and companion Joyce Summers of Campbellsville and four sisters-in-law, Bernadean Bischel of Ohio, Leona Cox and Betty Cox, both of Tampa, Florida and Marie Cox of Campbellsville as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Faye “Ms. Pompano” Beard will be on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Collison and Bro. Jase Diven officiating. Following cremation, private entombment will take place at Mt. Zion Cemetery at a later date.
The family request visitation between the hours of 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and can be made at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Kathleen “Kathy” Smith of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Burton Cosby and Stachia Yeary Cosby, was born December 3, 1947, in Bell County, Kentucky. She died at 7:30 P.M., Monday, February 5, 2018 in Campbellsville. Age: 70
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Spurlington United Methodist Church.
Kathleen was an employee of Internal Medicine Associates in Campbellsville.
She united in marriage to Gerald Smith January 3, 1981.
Besides her husband, Gerald Smith of Campbellsville, she is survived by five sons: Raymond Dobson of Ohio, James Allen Dobson of Elizabethtown, Mike Smith and wife, Chassity of Lebanon, David Smith and wife, Vicki and Thomas Smith of Campbellsville; six grandchildren: Krysten Smith, Brandon Cain, Tyler Dobson, Alex Smith, Aiden Smith and Adalyn Smith; one brother and two sisters: Kenneth Cosby and wife, Deborah of Texarkana, Texas, Betty Harlan and Barbara Deemer and husband, Joe of Louisville; her mother-in-law, Helen Smith of Campbellsville; one brother-in-law, Barry Smith and wife, Kim of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
