Alice Nance

Posted by on Oct 1, 2025

Alice Nance of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Fred Roberts and Esther Wade Roberts, was born to be celebrated and entered the world accordingly on New Year’s Eve,

December 31, 1934 in Taylor County, Kentucky.  She passed Monday evening, September 29, 2025 in Campbellsville at the age of 90, outliving all of her siblings – bragging rights we are sure she shared immediately upon being reunited with them in heaven.

She professed faith in Christ and was of the Methodist Church. She made sure to love her friends, family, and community every day.

Alice was a retired employee of Stanford Elementary School.  She started her career as a Kindergarten Aide where she loved to read with students. She retired as the head of the school cafeteria where she showed love with food – never letting powdered mashed potatoes pass as an acceptable side dish.

She united in marriage to Bob Nance August 25, 1955 and he preceded her in death May 15, 2014.  She missed him every day they were apart.  We are certain he picked her up at the pearly gates in a fast car and zoomed away to their home together.

Alice is survived by and will be missed dearly by one son and one daughter: Robert “Tony” Anthony Nance and wife, Teresa of Hopkinsville, and Greta Jo Smith and husband, Steve of Campbellsville; two grandchildren: Danielle “ Dani” Fowles and husband, Justin of Louisville, and Clint Smith and wife, Rachael of Murfreesboro, TN; one great-grandchild: Leo Robert Fowles; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Alice was also preceded in death by one great- grandchild: Grace Fowles; five brothers and one sister: James Wade Roberts, Bobby Roberts, Elwood Roberts, Derald Roberts, Fred Roberts Jr., and Vivian Spocharski.
