Prunice Delbert Barnett

Prunice Delbert Barnett was born March 29, 1944, to the late Vernon and Nellie Barnett in Hart County, Kentucky. On Thursday, July 24, 2025, God saw fit to call him home at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was 81 years old.

He professed his faith at an early age at Mount Gilboa Baptist Church in Hart County, Kentucky.

Prunice worked as a welder at Kentucky Trailer in Louisville, KY, for 30 years. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time at home in his garage no matter the weather. Everyone knew he would be in his garage rain or shine, hot or cold. The garage was his sanctuary, and it became a popular sitting spot for family and friends. If the garage could talk, it would have many stories to tell. Before his health failed him, he would also enjoy mowing his lawn and working on vehicles.

To know Prunice was to love him. He enjoyed teasing and picking on family and friends. He even teased and joked in his final hours. He would always say, “If I didn’t like you, I wouldn’t pick on you or talk to you”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Nellie Barnett; two brothers, Farris Barnett and Warren (Tom) Barnett; one sister, Rebecca Garnett; 4 nephews and two nieces.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife Mary (Boo) Barnett of Campbellsville, KY; two sons, Jeffrey (Anita) Barnett of Columbia, KY and Stacey Groves of Louisville, KY; one daughter, Tara (Charles) Acklin of Louisville, KY; 5 granddaughters; 3 grandsons; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral service for Prunice Delbert Barnett will be Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery.

Rev. Joshua Hale will officiate.

The family requests visitation on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
