Richard David McWhorter Sr. of Boca Raton, Florida, formerly of Campbellsville, Kentucky, son of the late Lucian Alvin McWhorter and Elymus Hardin McWhorter, was born in Adair County, Kentucky, November 10, 1916. He died at 9:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 2, 2002, in Boca Raton, Florida. Age: 85 He had professed faith in Christ and was a charter member of the Woodlawn Christian Church in Campbellsville, Kentucky, and one of the teachers of The Searchlighters Sunday School Class. Currently he was a member of the Community Christian Church in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he served as a Deacon and one of the teachers of the Lamplighters Sunday School Class.He was a member of Company F, 113th QM Kentucky National Guard when ordered into the United States Army in December 1940. He served honorably until discharged in 1951 as a Major, assigned to the Ordnance Corps, United States Army.He was a salesman in the Central Kentucky Area for Belknap Hardware Company, Louisville, Kentucky, for some thirty-five years before his retirement.He was a 1934 Graduate of Taylor County High School and attended Campbellsville University, University of Louisville, and the University of Indiana.He was a charter member of the Campbellsville-Taylor County Industrial Foundation, Campbellsville Country Club, Campbellsville Kiwanis Club, and Campbellsville-Taylor County Chamber of Commerce, where he served as president. In Boca Raton, he served on the Board of Managers, Sweetwater Homeowner Association, and was a delegate to the West Boca Community Council.He was united in marriage on July 27, 1947, to Lena Miller who preceded him in death May 29, 1996. He is survived by one daughter son-in-law and one son and daughter-in-law: Joan McWhorter Baker James P. Baker of Boca Raton, Florida and Richard David McWhorter Jr. Mary E. McWhorter of Richmond, Virginia; three grandsons and two granddaughters: Richard David McWhorter III, Paul Joseph McWhorter, and Danielle Joy McWhorter of Richmond, Virginia and John Preston Baker and Elizabeth Miller Baker of Boca Raton, Florida; several other relatives and many friends.FUNERAL SERVICES: 5:30 P.M., Saturday, July 6th at the Woodlawn Christian Church in Campbellsville by Dr. Paul W. J. P. Jardine, 78, of 712 Cottage Court in Campbellsville, died Monday, June 17, 2002 in Campbellsville.He was a retired Music Professor of Campbellsville University and Bluefield College and the former Minister of Music of Campbellsville Baptist Church.He was the son of the late Robert John and Goldie Brown Jardine of Douglas, Georgia.He is survived by Dan and Linda Hayes, Adam and Melinda Hayes, Amy and Jerry Colvin all of Campbellsville; Dr. Breece and Julie Hayes of Liberty; one brother and sister-in-law, Adrian and Frances Jardine of Douglas, Georgia; one nephew, Andrew Jardine; two nieces, Luellen Nissen and Mary Elizabeth Dowling; a vast number of former students, former colleagues and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Dumar Jardine and a nephew Dumar Jardine Jr.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 21, 2002 at the Parrott Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville with Jim Clark, Tom Ed Moore, Jerry Naff, Jay Padgett and Dr. J. Tommy Porter of Owl Creek Road, Campbellsville, son of Carl Porter and Edna Lawson Porter, was born June 6, 1941, in Taylor County, Kentucky.
