Christine Blankenship Rogers of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Owen Blankenship and Anabelle Arvin Blankenship, was born July 7, 1929 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 11:12 A.M., Thursday, October 8, 2020 in Campbellsville. Age: 91
She
professed faith in Christ and was a member of Millers Chapel United Methodist
Church.
Christine
was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and had also
worked several years at Roger’s Foodland.
She
united in marriage to Clay M. Rogers April 9, 1955.
Besides
her husband, Clay M. Rogers of Campbellsville, she is survived by a daughter,
Pam Rogers of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other
relatives and friends.
Christine was also preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters: Eugene Blankenship, J. C. Blankenship, Geneva Brown, Beulah Bright, Lois Burris, Nan Wettrick, Thelma Marlow, Vera Williams and Ruby Blankenship.

John Michael Ferriell, of Campbellsville, the son of the late John Alfonso and Monica (Hinton) Ferriell, was born December 9, 1946 in Louisville and departed this life on October 6, 2020 in Louisville at the Signature Health Care Rockford. He was 73 years of age. He was an inspector for Tube Turns in Louisville, a Veteran of the United States Army and was of the Catholic Faith. He was a past Commander and lifetime member of the American Legion Dixie Post #220, and was an avid fisherman. He united in marriage to Rose (Neace) Ferriell, who survives. To this union were born two children: Brecca (Kenny) Russell of Louisville and Scott Ferriell of Campbellsville. Also surviving is a grandson: Jonathan Ferriell of Louisville; lifelong friends: Mike and Alice Leon of Louisville.
The funeral service for John Michael Ferriell will be Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home in Campbellsville with Father Saju Vadakumpadan officiating.
Visitation after 11:30 A.M. Tuesday until time for the service.

Elroy Riggs of Campbellsville, son the late Richard Bryant Riggs and Lucinda Marie White Riggs, was born February 1, 1937 and was proud of being from Finley Ridge, Kentucky. He died at 3:11 P.M., Sunday, October 4, 2020 in Campbellsville. Age: 83
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist
Church.
Elroy was a retired owner and operator of Green River Wholesale.
He united in marriage to Rachel Reese July 5, 1958.
Besides his wife, Rachel Riggs of Campbellsville, he is survived by one son and one daughter: Alan Riggs and wife, Alicia of Greensburg and Vickie McKinley and husband, Mark of Campbellsville; five grandchildren: Maggie Brooke Adams and husband, Kevin of Louisville, Kelsey Riggs of St. Petersburg, Florida, Ellie Paine and husband, Davis of Maryville, Tennessee, Rachel Hughes and husband, Sean of Memphis, Tennessee and Peter Riggs of Greensburg; two great-grandchildren: Claire Coleman and Julian Coleman of St. Petersburg, Florida;

Maurice Coakley (Buddy) Bryant of Campbellsville, son of the late
Robert L. and Cecil Chelf Bryant was born February 8, 1929 in Taylor
County. He died on Friday, October 2,
2020 at age 91.
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Friendship Baptist
Church in Campbellsville. Buddy was a
retired operating engineer and belonged to the International Union of Operating
Engineers, Local 150 in Illinois for more than 50 years. Buddy spent his career
operating heavy equipment and helped to build hundreds of miles of roads in
northern Illinois during his career.
Besides his family and friends, Buddy loved hunting, fishing, wine
making, and collecting hats and cars. He
also loved to travel and visit friends and family along the way. Attending the Sandwich, Illinois (DeKalb
County) Fair was a favorite annual event for him.
Besides his daughters Mary Lynn (Bryant) McKittrick and husband Glenn
of Campbellsville, Debbie (Bryant) Woodrum and husband Ron of Oswego, Illinois,
Janette Bryant and husband Pete Cleary of Aurora, Illinois, step-daughter Tonja

wife Linda of Darion, Illinois, he is survived by his granddaughters Brooke

Miller, Jake and Luke Shafer, seven great grandchildren, his brothers Leonard

Gordon Smith was born March 26, 1928 in Mimico, a suburb of Toronto, Canada. He was the son of Gordon Baker Smith and Marie Rosalean Kelly. He died at Taylor Regional Hospital of covid pneumonia, September 20, 2020, age 92. He had an identical twin brother, Bruce, and an older sister, Joyce. He was christened at St. Cyprian Anglican Church, Toronto, and confirmed at Christ Anglican Church, Mimico, and was a member of All Saints Anglican, Toronto.
A graduate of Mimico High School, he received a Bachelor of Arts in English and Philosophy in 1951 and a Master of Arts in Philosophy from Toronto University in 1952. He earned a second Master of Arts in Russian Language and Literature from Middlebury College in Vermont in 1968.
Gordon entered the Canadian Army in 1951 and was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland and Montreal, Quebec. As a member of the United Nations Emergency Forces, he served in the Middle East in Lebanon, Egypt, and the Gaza Strip. He departed regular service in 1960 with the rank of Captain.
He served in the Canadian Army Reserves, 1971 to1978, and rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel, being a member of the Officer Group, Canadian National Defense Head Quarters. He enrolled in the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and received an ABD in Russian Language and Literature. He studied twice at Moscow State University.
Gordon and his twin brother were gifted in learning languages. He was fluent in French, Russian, Portuguese, and comfortable in Italian and other romance and Slavic languages.
From 1961 to 1986, he was a teacher of English and Russian in the public schools of Toronto. He began his teaching career as head of English Department at Alderwood Collegiate Institute where he taught grade 13; he was a language specialist and became vice-principal of Etobicoke Collegiate in Mississauga, Ontario. After teaching for 25 years, he retired and started teaching English and writing at Sheridan College from 1986-1988 and translated novels from Russian into English. He was member of the Canadian Professional Translators Association.
While still in Ontario, he was a member of the Royal Canadian Military Institute and served on the Board of Markland Woods Country Club in Etobicoke where he golfed practically every day that weather permitted.
While on a trip to East Central Europe, he met Betty Jane Gorin. He came to the United States and taught Russian Translation at Indiana University. On October 3, 1991, they married, it being the first wedding in the Hiestand House Museum.
Gordon became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1997 thereby retaining dual citizenship, Canadian and U.S.
A gifted teacher, he taught ESL and Russian for Campbellsville University. He translated for the Kentucky Baptists in their mission partnership with Russia, teaching English to Nickolai Syrovatko, a Baptist missionary. He served as secretary on the Sister Cities Committee and went to Ireland with the Taylor County delegation. He served on the board of the Taylor County Historical Society. He was an active Rotarian and their program chairperson for ten years. He was named a Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club. He was a faithful member of the Men’s Sunday School Class at Campbellsville Baptist Church and a loyal member of the Campbellsville Country Club. His perfect day was teaching at the university in the morning and playing golf in the afternoon. He retired teaching from CU in 2010, age 82.
Gordon translated from Russian into English, Beskrovny’s The History of Russian Army and Fleet in the 19th Century for Academic International Press in 1996, receiving outstanding reviews. He edited Antonio Mendez’s book, The Master of Disguise in 1999. He edited Dr. J. Chester Badgett’s History of Campbellsville University in 2004, and his wife’s book, Morgan Is Coming! Confederate Raiders in the Heartland of Kentucky in 2005.
A Life Scout in Canada (Eagle in US), he supported Boy Scouts in this country. A member of the Louisville Civil War Round Table, he supported the Speed Museum, KET, Public Radio, CARE, and Doctors Without Borders. He never met a stranger.
His sister, Joyce Meyer (Wilf), and his twin brother, Bruce Kelly Smith (Karen), preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane, Campbellsville, children of his twin brother and sister: Eileen Smith Pel (Robert) of Stratford, Ontario, Lisa Smith, of Montreal, Quebec, nephew, Bernhard Bruce Smith (Colleen), of Barrie, Ontario; Marilyn Smith, Vancouver; Bruce Smith, Ottawa, ON, great nieces and nephew, Morgan Pel Fullerton (Michael) and their children, Winston and Imogen, Thea Pel, Bronwyn Pel (Bryan Rohaly), Lauren Smith, Zachary Smith. His step-children are Mark Gorin, (Debbie) Prospect, KY, Beth Gorin Cox (Todd), Hendersonville, TN; Dr. Wendell Jones, (Patricia) of Cary, NC. Step grandchildren, Katherine Gorin and finance Patrick Trujillo, Orange, CA and Diana Gorin, New York City; Chelsea Cox Glick (Nathaniel), Corona, CA and Emily Cox Hodges (Wade), Gallatin, TN; Dr. Nathan Jones (Dr. Brook Britton) of Baltimore, MD, Tyler Jones and fiancée Leah Mincey of Cary, NC.

hodom “Pete” Edward Crabtree, 63, of Knoxville, TN, left this heavenly earth on September 29th, 2020. Pete is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Crabtree of Campbellsville, KY. Pete is survived by his loving wife of almost 20 years, Nancy Carole Crabtree, and his children, Kelsey Crabtree Maynard (Todd), Thomas Morgan Crabtree, Taylor Michael Crabtree, Katherine McLees Orem (Anson), Steven Hunter McLees (Kelley) and William “Liam” Harper McLees. Born on December 29, 1940 to the late Gus and Flossie Mea (Cox) Edelen, she was 79 years, 8 months, and 28 days of age. Mrs. Hunt was a homemaker, and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and working in her yard. Rose Chaney was born November 16, 1939 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at

He professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist Faith. Tom served
his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a retired firefighter
with the Campbellsville Fire Department after some twenty-eight years service
and was an avid collector of fire memorabilia and enjoyed putting together
plastic models.
He united in marriage to Virginia Butler July 11, 1961.
Besides his wife, Virginia Rose of Campbellsville he is survived by one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Billy Butler, Frances Morris, Allie Pierce and husband, Norman and Ruby Rose; three nephews and five nieces: James Pierce and wife, Michelle, Susan Burress, Nancy Kitt and husband Chuck, Bonnie Collins and husband, Jeff, Jamie Rose and wife, Rhonda, Billy Robinson, Tammie Green and husband, Bill and Joyce Rose and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Angel May Holt Perkins, 52, of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Walter Holt and Louise Blake Grimes was born March 12th, 1968, and departed this life on Friday, September 25th, 2020, in Campbellsville, KY.
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of New Journey Church in Campbellsville, KY. She was a devoted wife and loving sister. She loved her family, taking pictures, flowers especially roses, caring for children, and serving and attending church.
She united in marriage to Glen Perkins on September 20th, 2009, who survives.
Survived by one stepson and one step daughter: Steve Perkins and wife Tracy of Campbellsville and Brenda Jenkins of Campbellsville.
Survived by five sisters and three brothers: Gloria Johnson of New York, Judy Kief of New York, Hallie Johnson of Campbellsville, Yvonne Johnson of Tennessee, Walter Holt of Liberty, Debbie Holt – Harmon of North Carolina, Carl Holt of Tennessee, and Ronnie Carey of Pennsylvania.
Four grandchildren: Kyle Lee, Whitney Payton and husband Matt, Cody Jenkins, and Katie Jenkins all of Campbellsville, KY.
