Lucian Rodgers of Owensboro, formerly of Campbellsville, son of the late Grover Rodgers, Sr. and Clara Shreve Rodgers, was born November 4, 1932 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 6:30 A.M., Friday, December 29, 2017 in Owensboro. Age: 85
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Palestine Baptist Church.
Lucian was a retired farmer, worked as Houchens Market Manager for fifteen years and also served on the Board of Directors for the Green River Feeder Cattle Association for eighteen years.
He united in marriage to Wanda Conner October 19, 1952 and she preceded him in death May 10, 1993.
He is survived by two sons: Bart Rodgers of Summersville and Tony Rodgers and wife, Ronda of Owensboro; four grandchildren: Blake Rodgers and wife, Cassie, of Nashville, Tennessee, Alec Rodgers and Chrissy Milby of Greensburg, David Rodgers and wife, Kristy, and Amy Rodgers of Owensboro; six great-grandchildren: Ethan Rodgers, Grayson Rodgers, Blaine Rodgers, Judson Rodgers, Callie Rodgers and Annalynn Rodgers; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters: Grover Rodgers, Jr., Maurice Rodgers, Alvin Wilkerson, Ralph Rodgers, Mayme Simpson and Aileen Richerson.

Nora Lee Minor of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Tom Edelen and Maude Murray Edelen, was born September 27, 1927 in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 7:10 A.M., Friday, December 29, 2017 in Campbellsville. Age: 90
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Acton Baptist Church.
Nora Lee was the retired owner and operator of Minor’s Jeans in Campbellsville for several years.
She united in marriage to Hanley Minor February 21, 1942 and he preceded her in death February 24, 1991.
She is survived by three daughters: Maxine White and husband, Willie, Connie White and husband, Ronnie and Brenda Watson and husband, Doug of Campbellsville; two daughters-in-law: Della Minor and Kathy Gilpin; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother and four sisters: Howard Edelen, Pearl Blevins, Barbara Powell, Joyce Davis of Campbellsville and Bernice Benningfield of Jefferson County; a sister-in-law, Louise Smothers of Mannsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by two sons: Kenneth Minor May 9, 2011 and Paul Minor June 2, 1991 and one brother and two sisters: Wesley Edelen, Wilma Edelen and Lola Nell Hickey.

Dorathey E. “Dora” Mikel, age 72

Dorathey E. “Dora” Mikel, 72 years, 3 months and 20 days of age, died Thursday, December 28, 2017, in Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia.

Dora was born September 8, 1945.   She was preceded in death by parents, Ruby  and Catherine Bryant Mikel and a son Bryant Greg Mikel.

Surviving are Dora’s grandsons, Allan Craig Mikel of New Albany, IN and Derek Christopher Mikel, as well as two great grandchildren, James Tiberius Mikel and Savanna Phoenix Mikel.  Also surviving is one brother, Wayne Mikel.

The funeral service for Dorathey E. “Dora” Mikel will be held on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Lyon-Dewitt-Berry Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Shelton officiating.  Burial to follow in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Mark Anthony Cox, age 44

Mark Anthony Cox, 44 years, 8 months and 20 days of age, died Thursday, December 28, 2017 at his home in Campbellsville.

Mark was born on April 8, 1973 in Greensburg to the late Charles Samuel Cox, Jr. and Connie Fisher Bryant who survives.  He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Mannsville Christian Church.

Besides his mother, Mark is survived by his step-father, Keith Bryant of Campbellsville, a daughter and son, Brianne and Steven Cox both of Marion County.   Also surviving is a granddaughter, Kylie Ann Simpson and a special aunt, Pauline Bright of Campbellsville.

The funeral service for Mark Anthony Cox will be Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Dotson officiating.  Interment will follow at Campbellsville Memorial Gardens with casket bearers being David Gilbert, Jason Fisher, Barry Bright, John Seaborne, Wayne Puryear and Sheridan Underwood.

The family request guest after 10:00 a.m. until time for the service on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Curtis Hunter Burton, 20

Mr. Curtis Hunter Burton of Campbellsville, son of Tony Curtis Burton and Mandy Kay Porter, was born on April 15, 1997. He departed this life on Monday, December 25, 2017, being 20 years, 8 months, and 20 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Christian faith. Hunter was a welder by trade, and had earned his certification from the Tulsa Welding School. His guitar was his passion, so while his big heart made people smile and laugh, he also had a unique ability to touch people through music.
He leaves to mourn his passing:
His parents: Mandy Kay Porter of Campbellsville, and Tony Curtis Burton of Adair County,
His grandparents: Steve and Sandy Porter, and Gary and Carol Janes, all of Campbellsville,
A brother and sister: Christopher Chase Burton and Kaylie Lynn Burton and a host of close cousins and other relatives and friends.
There will be a funeral service to honor Hunter’s life on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Donald Hall Bishop

Donald Hall Bishop of Campbellsville, son of the late Kenneth Bishop and Corrine Head Bishop, was born March 29, 1935 in Hardin County, Kentucky. He died at 2:15 A.M., Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in Louisville. Age: 82
He professed faith in Christ and was an active member of Campbellsville Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Teacher for over fifty years and also served as a deacon for many years.
Don retired after twenty-nine years as the Athletic Director of Campbellsville University. During his time there, he was involved with numerous athletic teams; he played a large part in the reinstatement of the football program, starting of the soccer, swimming and diving teams, which led to many young people attending Campbellsville University; established a scholarship fund; was involved in the university becoming a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association and was a very proud member of the Big Maroon Club. Don was also a member of the Campbellsville University Athletic Hall of Fame. Prior to his time with the University, Don was a teacher and a principal with many schools throughout the surrounding counties. He also spent forty years teaching swim lessons.
He united in marriage to June Holman July 7, 1957.
Besides his wife, June Bishop of Campbellsville, he is survived by two daughters: Robyn Lawless and husband, Randy and Susie Pollock and husband, Michael “Sarge” of Campbellsville; four grandchildren: Luke Lawless and wife, Rebecca, Lincoln Lawless, MeLeigha Pollock Milby and husband, Blake and Reagan Pollock of Campbellsville; one great-grandson, Fletcher Milby of Campbellsville; one brother, Douglas Ira Bishop and wife, Becky of Frankfort; one sister-in-law, Sharon Bishop of Louisville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Ray Bishop.

Mr. Darrison “D.S.” Bowling of Campbellsville was born on October 4, 1945 in Redbird, KY to the late Troy and Lula (Napier) Bowling. He departed this life on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at his home, being 72 years, 2 months, and 20 days of age. Mr. Bowling was a logger and truck driver by trade. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith.

He leaves to mourn his passing:

One son: Darin Bowling and wife Kim of Manchester, KY,

Four siblings: Ernest Bowling, Edgar Bowling, and Lushin Bowling, all of London, KY, and Minnie Collett of Redbird,

Seven grandchildren,

Seven great-grandchildren,

He was also preceded in death by a son, James Douglas Wilhoit.

Frances “Frankee” Gabehart. 65

Mrs. Frances (Ford) “Frankee” Gabehart of Campbellsville passed from this life on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at her home. Born in Lebanon to Mary M (Hill) Ford and the late Joseph L. Ford, she was 65 years, 1 month, and 26 days of age. She was the wife of Wilbur “Buddy” Gabehart, who preceded her in death in May 2017. Mrs. Gabehart professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. She had a heart of gold and always made sure the people she loved were cared for and happy.

Besides her mother, Mary M. Ford of Marion County, she also leaves to cherish her memory:

One daughter: Renee Hearon and husband Chris of Campbellsville,

Two step-daughters: Tracy Gabehart-Werner and husband Dana of Shepherdsville, and Karlee Campbell of Louisville,

Eight siblings: Teresa Simpson and husband Wesley of Gravel Switch, Billy Ford and wife Pam of Campbellsville, Dorothy Carroll and husband Dan of Elizabethtown, Mary Wheatley and husband Ricky of Raywick, Tammy Payne and husband Curtis of Lebanon, James Ford and companion Kristie Perkins of Lebanon, Marty Simpson and husband Todd of Gravel Switch, and JoAnn Atwell and husband Charlie of Lebanon,

One grandson: Blake Hearon,

Four step-grandchildren: Megan King, Emilee Gabehart, Zach Ginter, and Baylen Campbell,

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Ford.

Bro, Jim Collison will be officiating. Mrs. Gabehart will be laid to rest beside her late husband in the Jones Chapel Cemetery, Hwy 1752, Taylor County, KY.

Dorothy L. Kenneson, age 98

Dorothy L. Kenneson, 98, formerly of Smethport, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday (Dec. 24, 2017), at her daughter’s home in Elk Horn, KY.

Born Sept. 10, 1919, in Keating Township, PA, she was a daughter of John H. and Edna V. Gallup Taylor.  On February 14, 1936, in Allegany, NY, she married Paul E. Kenneson, who died Nov. 8, 2002. They were married 66 years.

Dorothy had been employed with Corning Glass Works, Bradford, PA, for 5 years before her retirement.

Mrs. Kenneson had attended the Coleville Christian Gospel Church, Colville, PA,  Dorothy and her husband had a memorable history in aviation.  She helped her husband build a Stits-Flut-r-Bug airplane, and helped him rebuild a 1940 Taylorcraft airplane. She also enjoyed crocheting.

Surviving are a son, Robert P. (Joan) Kenneson of Eureka, KS; four daughters, Dorothy P. (Roy) Church of Chaffee, NY, Patricia J. Highfield of Howell, MI, Bonnie L. (Rev. Robert) Langlois of Elk Horn, KY, Mary L. (Rev. Glenford) Barnes of Winter Haven, FL; 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grand-children, 27 great-great grand-children; a brother, William G. (Faye) Taylor of Gifford, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul, a grandson, a great-granddaughter, three brothers: Edward J. Taylor, John G. Taylor, Raymond L. Taylor; and three sisters, Naomi P. Covert, Beatrice M. Dann, and Beulah M. Zindren.

Friends will be received from 11-am to 1 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 30, 2017) in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. Robert Langlois and Rev. Glen Barnes, co-officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.

Hazel Mae Spurling Sullivan

Hazel Mae Spurling Sullivan of Campbellsville, daughter of the late William Goebel Spurling and Mary Francis Tarter Spurling, was born April 23, 1928, in Jefferson County, Kentucky. She died at 12:40 P.M., Saturday, December 23, 2017 in Campbellsville. Age: 89
She professed faith in Christ and attended Bible Baptist Tabernacle. She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville after forty seven and a half years of dedication. After high school Hazel attended Campbellsville College and taught in the one room school at Knopps on Finley Ridge for two years.
She united in marriage to Murrell Sullivan May 16 1953 and he preceded her in death September 8, 1979.
She is survived by one daughter and one son: Connie Sue Sullivan Phillips and Murrell Dennis Sullivan; two sisters and two brothers: Mattie Jean Smothers, Margaret Ann Chappell, Charles Washington Spurling and Edwin Lee Spurling all of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters: Jimmie Ray Spurling, Harold Glenn Spurling, William Goebel Spurling Jr., Opal Maxine Spurling and Geneva Mae Spurling in infancy and a special friend, Robert Meador.
