Cathy Hayes

Posted by on Jan 19, 2024

At age 73, Cathy Hayes, surrounded by loved ones, began her everlasting life with her Lord and Savior on January 14th, 2024. A two-time cancer survivor, Cathy peacefully surrendered to her third battle with lung cancer at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Born on March 7th, 1950 in Rock Falls, Illinois, Cathy Faye Cabell was raised with her siblings by her loving parents, the late Norma June and Dan Rudell Cabell. Growing up, Cathy attended school in Henry County, KY and was lifelong best friends with her older sister, Linda. Her gullible nature made her a perfect companion for her fun-loving brothers to tease. Her patient heart made her a loving caregiver for her younger siblings.  Cathy was married to the love of her life, Eric Hayes for 25 years. They started their own family shortly after they were married and eventually moved to Taylor County, KY when Eric returned home from the Vietnam War. She worked in healthcare and later in some local factories before retiring and moving to Louisville, KY to be closer to her family. Cathy devoted her life to God, her husband, and her adoring children, Lisa and Billy. Her family and friends will remember Cathy as someone with a tender, humble heart. Cathy enjoyed gathering with friends and family, and had a love of animals; especially horses.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eric Hayes; her father, Dan Rudell Cabell; her mother, Norma June Cabell Lawson; and two brothers, Joe Bonnell and Edward Duvall.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa French (Willie), of Louisville, KY; her son, Billy Hayes (Tammy) of Shepherdsville, KY; her three grandchildren, Lauren French, Will French, and Eric Hayes; her sister, Linda Mancilla (Mariano), of Shelbyville, KY; her sister, Debbie Spalding (Dennis), of Lebanon, KY; her brother, Danny Cabell (Bonnie) of Shelbyville, KY; her many nieces and nephews; and her friends.

Easy to laugh and easy to love, Cathy will be missed dearly.
