George Stanley Parker, Jr. , 80

George Stanley Parker, Jr., of Campbellsville, the son of the late George Stanley Parker, Sr. and Jeanette Bertha Koger Parker, was born June 10, 1943 in Council Bluffs, IA and departed this life on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Green Hill Manor in Greensburg. He was 80 years of age.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Campbellsville, He was a retired custodian for Taylor Co. Schools, a former truck driver and tow boat operator. He loved fishing, hunting, shooting guns, and spending time with grandkids and family.

Survivors include his wife: Ruby Coaker Parker, six children: Jennifer Clements (Timmy) of Campbellsville, Jeanna Manzitto (Tony) of Iowa, Jaron Parker (Sam) of Nebraska, Michael Smith of Monticello, Diana Smith and Timothy Williams both of Campbellsville. Sixteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers: Dave Parker (Susie) and Steve Parker (Marie) both of Iowa.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters: Jodie Parker and Jill Renee Swartz, and one brother: Tom Parker.

There will be a funeral service for George Stanley Parker Jr. at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 23, 2024, in the chapel of L.R. Petty Funeral Home with cremation to follow.

The family requests visitation on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 4:00 P.M. until the time of the service.

Memorials are suggested to be donations to the funeral expense fund and can be made at the funeral home.

Dollie Jean Shelby, 80

Mrs. Dollie Jean Shelby of Campbelsville passed from this life on Monday, January 15, 2024 at the Green Hill Nursing and Rehab Center after an extended illness. Born in Flint, Michigan to the late Clair and Lilyan (Goatlander) Ellis on July 14, 1943, She was 80 years of age at the time of her passing. She was a retired associate of Southern States and the United States Postal Service, and was of the Episcopalian faith. She enjoyed her time outside, and was an avid gardener. Mrs. Shelby was full of love for her family, friends, and animals, and loved walking in the woods with her dogs Missy and Buddy. She had united in marriage to Mr. Leon Robert Shelby, Jr., and shared a lifetime of stories and travels. Following his death in 2017, she continued to share the joys of travel with her close friend Jean Wallace.

She leaves to cherish her memory:

Two children: Julie Powell of Campbellsville, and Roberta Powell of Winchester,

Two: stepchiuldren: Sharon Boyd of Michigan, and Stephen Shelby of Texas,

Two siblings: Clairene Striler and Walter Ellis, both of Michigan,

Nine grandchildren,

One great-grandchild,

And a host of other family members and friends.

At the request of Mrs. Shelby, cremation was accorded her by the L.R. Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Campbellsville. All services were held privately.

Dorothy H. Wright Dewitt, 88

Dorothy H. Wright Dewitt, of Greensburg, the daughter of the late Roy Bell and Mae Bennett Bell, was born October 23, 1935, in Campbellsville, KY, and departed this life on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Green Hill Manor in Greensburg. She was 88 years of age.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church. She was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom. She enjoyed watching television, gardening, working in the yard, and playing with her dogs.

Survivors include four children: Donna Bishop of Greensburg, Paul Wright  (Linda) of Hodgenville, Nathan Dewitt (Nancy), and Norman Dewitt and companion Melinda Cox all of Campbellsville.

Four grandchildren: Rebecca Bennett, Bob Bishop, Misty Wright, and Scott (Kim) Wright. Six great-grandchildren: Blake Chaudoin, Katie Chaudoin, Allen Murphy, Faith Wright, Caroline Wright, and Tyler Wright.

Also surviving is one sister: Jane Underwood of Campbellsville along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents, She was preceded in death by her husband: Stanley Dewitt, One brother and sister-in-law: Roy and Carolene Bell, and a brother-in-law: Chandler Underwood.

There will be a funeral service for Dorothy H. Wright Dewitt at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, January 21, 2024, in the chapel of L.R. Petty Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Bro. Joe Whitlock and Bro. Jimmy York will officiate.

The family requests visitation on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
