Geneva Hunt, 84

Mrs. Geneva (Pierce) Hunt, daughter of the late Roscoe and Mattie (Brewer) Hunt, was born on March 28, 1933 in Taylor County. She departed this life on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at her home, being 84 years, 5 months, and 10 days of age. Mrs. Hunt professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She had worked at the Fruit of the Loom plant in Campbellsville several years, but her calling in life was to be a wife, mother, and grandmother. In her spare time, she loved to read or raise flowers, and considered yard sales and auctions social events as well as a place to find a good bargain or two.

She leaves to cherish her memory:

Her husband of nearly 67 years: Edward Hunt,

Two children: Phyllis Sallee and husband Eddie, and David Hunt and special friend Kaye Hunt and her children, all of Campbellsville,

Three siblings: Louise Manasco and husband Jesse, and Juanita Perkins, all of Campbellsville, and Kenny Pierce and wife Shirley of Greensburg,

Two granddaughters: Samantha Arnold and husband Chad, and Andrea Smith, both of Campbellsville,

Four great-grandchildren: Maddox, Kinley, Caroline, and Avery,

A sister-in-law: Gertrude Sprowles of Campbellsville,

And a host of other family and friends.

There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Hunt on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro Freddy Thompson will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 3878 Greensburg Rd, Campbellsville, KY.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, Sept. 9 after 11:00 AM until time for the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in the form of donations to the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Building Fund or the Galilean Children’s Home. Those can be made in person at the funeral home.

Roger Withers, age 69

Roger Dale Withers, 69 years, four months and one day of age of Campbellsville, died Thursday, September 7, 2017, at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born on May 6, 1948 in Russell County to the late Arno and Jane Eades Withers.  His mother died when he was just one-year old and he later came to know his late step-mother, Marie Withers as “Mom”.  A truck driver, he drove for Pyles Concrete for the ten years prior to his retirement.  While he was able, he liked to fish and enjoyed spending time with his dogs.  More recently he enjoyed spending time on Facebook.

Roger is survived by his wife, Linda Chelf Withers and two sons, Jeff Padilla and wife Rhonda of Russell Springs and Steve Cave and wife Maren of Atlanta, GA.   Also surviving are three grandchildren, Mariah Johnson, Jayden Padilla, Noah Padilla and siblings, Shirley Withers, Larry Withers and wife, Linda, David Withers and wife, Rosemary, Judy Chenoweth and husband, Jason and Clara Withers all of Russell Springs.

Funeral Service for Roger Dale Withers will be Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with Bro. Hugh Withers officiating.  Serving as casket bearers will be Brent Vaught, Ben Vaught, Davy Withers, Jr., Dale Burton, Scott Chelf and Kevin Bryant.  His grandchildren, Mariah Johnson, Jayden Padilla and Noah Padilla will be honorary casket bearers.   Burial to will follow at Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5:00 -8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Margaret Redman – age 78

Margaret Joy Redman, 78 years, 10 months and 2 days of age, formerly of Campbellsville, died Thursday, September 7, 2017 in Lexington where she has resided since 2002.

She was born in Campbellsville on November 5, 1938 the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Virginia Coleman Cox.    Prior to moving to Lexington, Margaret enjoyed being a homemaker and was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Catherine Davis and her husband Jessie of Lexington and a son, David Redman and his wife Gail of Campbellsville.   Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jacqueline Davis Hawk and her husband David of Douglasville, GA and Amanda Gabehart and her husband Carl of Campbellsville as well as 2 great-grandchildren.     Three sisters survive, Shirley Childress and husband James of Buffalo, Dora Wagoner and husband Carl Lewis and Julia Colvin of Campbellsville.

Funeral service for Margaret Joy Redman will be Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with a private comital service at Brookside to follow.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time for the service on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to be Gideon Bibles or the Diabetes Foundation and may be made at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.
