Velma Sue Stocton

Velma Sue Stocton, age 61, of Campbellsville, died Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Taylor Regional Hospital after a sudden illness.

Velma was born on April 24, 1956 in Russell County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Jesse James and Velma Lee Bray Stocton.    Also preceding her in death was her son, Kevin James Stocton and one sister, Carolyn Mann.  She was of the Christian faith.

Velma is survived by two grandchildren, Kevin Richard Stocton of Campbellsville and Trevor Mattingly of St. Mary’s, Kentucky.    Also surviving are her three sisters, Ruby Stocton of Campbellsville, Mertie Thomas, and Becky Owens and her husband (Scott) of Russell Springs, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 16th at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home with cremation to follow.  The family requests visitation after 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 16th until time for the funeral.

Memorial contributions are suggested to go toward the cost of the funeral expense and may be made at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Raymond Broussard, 67

Raymond Melvin Broussard, Jr. of Campbellsville was born on February, 17, 1950 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Legenia (Guillory) Lambert and the late Raymond Melvin Broussard, Sr. He departed this life on Friday, June 9th, 2017 at the VA hospital in Lexington. He was 67 years, 3 month, and 23 days of age. He professed faith in Christ and was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Broussard had a love for outdoor activities such as tennis, golf, and gardening. Raymond was a numbers genius and enjoyed solving mathematical problems. With a passion for learning, he also held a masters in history from the University of Louisville. He absorbed historical information and relayed it at every chance. He served his country honorably in Vietnam (First Calvary Division- 4th Infantry Army) and was a true American hero.

He leaves to mourn his passing:

His wife: Michelle Broussard of Campbellsville

His mother: Legenia Lambert and husband Harold of Nevada

Five children: Aaron Broussard, and Andy Broussard, both of Nebraska, Sam Broussard and Olivia Broussard, both of Louisville, and John Smith of Richmond,

One brother: Michael Broussard of California,

Three grandchildren: Hannah, Lucy, and Keenon,

And a host of extended family and close friends.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Mark Broussard.

There will be a memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Broussard on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 6:00 PM EST in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY 42718. Father Saju Vadakumpaden will be officiating.

Mr. Broussard will be laid to rest in the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 13, after 5:00 PM EST until time for the service.

Chris Sallee

Chris Sallee of Campbellsville, son of Daymon Sallee and the late Martha Sue Sidebottom Sallee, was born December 23, 1975, in Jefferson County, Kentucky. He died at 11:00 P.M., Saturday, June 10, 2017 in Campbellsville. Age: 41
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Brush Creek Baptist Church in Summersville.
Chris was a former restaurant employee and had most recently been employed as a roofer. His artistic talents were evident in his drawings and his musical ability. Chris loved all types of music and during high school, he was a percussionist in the band. He also enjoyed watching the UK Wildcats.
He is survived by his father, Daymon Sallee and friend, Jenny Stotts of Campbellsville; one brother and three sisters: Randy Cox and partner, Justin Grant and Genesia Sallee and fiancé, Timmy Hodgens of Campbellsville, Melissa Guerrieri and husband, Joseph of Louisville and Tammie Creason and husband, Jessie of Gray, Georgia; grandmother, Geneva Sidebottom of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
