Khuki Sahu, 90

Posted by on Aug 16, 2019

Mrs. Khauki Sahu of Campbellsville passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, August 13 at her home. Born in the Saptari District of Nepal on April 2, 1929, she was 90 years, 4 months, and 11 days of age. She was a homemaker and wife of Mr. Bechu Sahu, who preceded her in death.

After the death of her husband at a young age, Mrs. Sahu took the role of caregiver and supporter of their children with pride. Raised in an area known for extreme poverty, she refused to let circumstances control her life, and made sure her children were loved and well cared for. She continually encouraged them to make solid, long-term decisions and always invested strongly in education. After her son earned his Masters Degree in Nepal, she found a way to bring him to the United States to further his studies. Although her health and visa status sometimes forced a physical distance, she still managed to see him earn his PhD and become a full time professor at Campbellsville University. Her love and dedication was the anchor for her family, and the example she set will be cherished for generations.

She leaves to mourn her passing:

One son: Indra Dev Sahu and wife Jita of Campbellsville, Sayani Devi Sahu and husband Shyam of Nepal, and Thakani Devi Sahu of Nepal,

Three local grandchildren: Adarasa Shah, Puspa Shah, and Arpan Shah, and five grandchildren in Nepal,

Local extended family and friends: Laxmi Mandal, Bhabish, Jay Dhurba, and Chandra, and Dr. Steve Alston,

And several other family and friends.

Mrs. Sahu was cremated in accordance with Hindu custom. There was no public visitation.
