Brenda Kirkland York, the daughter of the late William and Ruth Carpenter Kirkland, was born October 17, 1959 in Florida and departed this life on Sunday, July 16, 2017 in Greensburg at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital. She was 57 years of age.
She loved and enjoyed flowers and was a former nursery worker and homemaker and was of the Christian faith.
Brenda Kirkland York, age 57, of Greensburg, passed away Sunday in Greensburg at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters: Marsha Kirkland Fuentes and husband Samuel of Florida, Jerri Terri of Hodgenville and Billy York and companion Martie Rogers of Greensburg; her siblings: Jeanie Chaney and husband Lonnie, Linda Kirkland and companion Jose Hernandez, Charles Kirkland, Roger Kirkland and wife Deloris and former sister-in-law: Phyllis Kirkland all of Florida.
Also surviving are eight Grandchildren: Marcus Kirkland, Ashley Davis, Kamien Kirkland, Anthony Fuentes, Adriana Fuentes, Kenneth Rosser, Kendra Rosser and Savannah Parks; one great-grandchild: Adalyn Demeyere and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. York was preceded in death by a brother: David Kirkland.

Cremation Rites will conducted by L.R. Petty Funeral Home in Campbellsville.

There will be no public visitation or funeral.

Alice Rosa Smith, age 78

Alice Rosa “Rosie” Smith, passed on Monday, July 17, 2017, at Signature Healthcare at North Hardin, Radcliff, KY.

Alice Rosa (Mattingly) Smith, was the daughter of the late Earl William Mattingly, Sr. & Alice Bertha (Spalding) Mattingly.  Step Mother, Edith Ann (Darnell) Mattingly. Rose was born in Springfield, Kentucky on September 4, 1938.  On October 11, 1957, she married Archie Vernon Smith, of Garrard County, KY.  They were married for 35 years until his death on March 22, 1992.  Before her illness Rose lived in Campbellsville. She was an active member at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.  Rose participated in many activities in her church and community.  One of her passions was raising funds yearly with the America Cancer Society Relay For Life.

Rose was preceded in death by her two children, Billy (Cowboy) and Ricky Smith. Siblings; Mary Elizabeth (Marion) Thompson, George (Mose) Mattingly, Barbara (Kate) Mattingly, Earl Mattingly, Jr. and her family friend, Adrian Porter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 20th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help with burial to follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville, KY.  The family requests visitation from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Robert E. “Gene” Newcomb

Robert E. “Gene” Newcomb of Campbellsville, son of the late Pat Newcomb and Viola Sapp Newcomb, was born February 9, 1936, in Marion County, Kentucky. He died Saturday, July 15, 2017 in Campbellsville. Age: 81
He professed faith in Christ and was a deacon and Sunday School Superintendent of Lowell Avenue Baptist Church until 1990 when he began his membership at Campbellsville Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon.
Robert was a supervisor at Fruit of the Loom where he worked for forty-two years.
He united in marriage to Genevieve Morris on August 13, 1956. She preceded him in death October 29, 2005.
He is survived by one son and two daughters: Danny Newcomb and wife, Lorie of Marysville, Ohio, Lisa Newcomb of Norwood, Massachusetts and Cheryl Williams of Campbellsville; four grandchildren: Lindsay Wayne and husband, David and Ryan Williams and wife, Nicki of Campbellsville, Alaina Zarbeck and husband, Matthew of Orlando, Florida and Kelsey Hunt of Norwood, Massachusetts; one great-grandson, Luke Wayne of Campbellsville; two sisters and four brothers: Johnny Newcomb and wife, Bridget Mae, L.C. Newcomb and wife, Aileen of Louisville, Jerry Newcomb of Finley, Cathleen Raffety and husband, Fred, and Sue Yates and husband, Jody of Campbellsville, and Bill Newcomb of Leitchfield; one sister-in-law, Lottie Newcomb of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends including special caregivers: Mary Sluder and Mary Bright.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Randall Newcomb, Jim Newcomb, Joe Newcomb and Geary Newcomb; one son-in-law, Larry E. Williams.
